Chris Fowler on Pitt’s Empty Yellow Seats

Mark Packer was talking to a caller on his ESPNU radio show this afternoon, and told the guy that the Miami team has to watch out when they play Pitt this Friday... because the effect of all of those empty yellow seats could be blinding to the Miami team. LOL... it seems that everyone in the industry is now piling on. I guess they say that there is no such thing as bad publicity. I’m not so sure.

The repeated shots of the Pitt fans sleeping in the stands at the end of the Ok State game was worse publicity than Pitt's worst enemy could ever dream up. Coupled with the free beverage announcement in the same game, Pitt will never live that down. Yeah, there is such a thing as bad publicity.

It's truly amazing that for a program that has pretty much sucked forever, somehow they've become an enormous national joke that everybody pisses on.

The best thing for all involved is to just drop down to FCS where they would at least be a mid-tier team. That would spare their players and fans, and likely the taxpayers.
