Clarion Open

Got to watch Bo Pipher's win via pin. Has pretty good cross face cradle and a nice single.
 
I watched Schnupp's match earlier. Got take down and turned a couple times in the first and was losing 8-0. Started to make comeback late, but just ran out of time to lose 9-5.
 
Friery and Van Cura also lost, but I didn't get a chance to watch those matches.

Thought he got screwed out of two points by a slow count at the end of the second period, but he is just so small. A disaster on bottom for right now.
 
I agree LemonPie. One positive I took from his match is that he is able to make adjustments mid match. He was totally owned the first period and still battled back.

Yeah. I like the kid. Didn't lose by a lack of effort. Pipher looks like he'll be good depth over the years.
 
Man, I wish PSU had Jack Mueller. Dude gets after it. And he's probably a career 125 pounder. Those are hard to come by.

In other news, Tyshawn White beat Phillippi in tie-break. I can't imagine having to watch Phillippi wrestle for 4 years. Yawn.
 
I was really impressed with Pipher. Definitely wrestles like a Penn Stater and I agree about the depth. Glad to see Cody Law wrestling at Pitt-Johnstown. Looked really good in his first match and has definitely grown into his body.

Pipher is fun to watch. About a minute into the second match he nearly stuck his guy from a front headlock. I think he's going to win a lot more often than he loses this redshirt season.

Schnupp goes down 16-0 and Friery loses 9-5 in consolations. Schnupp is scrappy, but gets manhandled when on bottom because he is not big enough yet. Cody Law wins 9-3. Also Tyshawn White beat Phillippi 6-5.
 
Pipher's on deck on mat 3 for his semi match vs Clarion's Brock Zacherl, former PIAA champ at 138 and who qualified last year, and kept it close there with Joey McKenna, losing 4-2 in the first round. He doesn't lose much but he's been pinned a few times.

Pipher loses 5-2. Rode Brock out entire 3rd period, couldn't get a turn. I must say I am impressed by him. Never stops wrestling, never stops moving.

Pipher goes down 5-2 (I think it should be 5-3). Pipher gives up his leg too easily from neutral. Got ridden out in the first. Showed a lot by flipping the riding time and getting that point. Nearly turned Zacherl in third with that cross face but he's not quite there yet. Pretty encouraging though.

Van Cura goes down 14-5. Was losing 5-4, shot in and had a great double, but got caught in a crazy scramble that put on his on his back for 6.
 
Yeah not sure what happened. He looked good all day, especially on his feet.
 
Bisono takes 3rd 5-2. Looks like the whole Pitt Johnstown team medical forfeited and went home.
