Ok, both the PSWC block hotels already are sold out! I feel like a tennybopper competing for tickets to a Taylor Swift concert!
What are some good hotels close to the venue?

I ended up booking the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center as the pickings were slim as of a month ago. Cleveland has a nice little downtown area around the Arena. We like the bars/restaurants around E. 4th St. which is a 5 minute walk from the arena and in the direction of our hotel.

CowboyUp is correct, the Ritz has availability and is a good location, just a bit expensive for me!

PSWC rooms sold out in minutes. I had to call 15 hotels yesterday, finally got a room out by the airport

Embassy Suites, DoubleTree, Home2Suites, all 15 minutes south of arena, in Independence, still showing availability and pricing in the $110-130 range with AAA discount.

Yeah you can get rooms about 10 miles out of the city. Anything in the city is a no-go.

NOT to high-jack this thread. I will be coming alone from Iowa (Penn State fan). Looking to share a room with someone. If anyone has extra space let me know. THANKS.

Just booked at the Hilton Garden Inn. It was $299 steep.
It's .4 miles from the Q arena and they do have more rooms available.
Ritz rooms are going for $599 per night.
Everything else is NOT in town and looks like you'd need a car.

I didn't check the details but I looked into flying to Cleveland and their is a subway/train that runs into the city so you don't absolutely need a car if you stay in the burbs. Someone from the Cleveland area can weigh in with better info than I have.

The RTA (rapid transit authority) runs from the airport to terminal tower and a covered walkway can take you to the Quicken Loans arena. A Sheraton is right at the airport

You also may want to check Airbnb, there were some decent last minute options in St Louis.

I live here. If you stay in Independence you are going to need a car or an uber ride as RTA doesn't go there. Not a far ride at all though and considerably cheaper.

No way in hell I would get a hotel. Look at VRBO, Airbnb, HomeAway, etc. I would guess that there are places at Grand Arcade and Water Street that would be absolutely perfect for the weekend. Possibly even something across the bridge in Ohio City. Just be aware that that area can be a little dicey depending on which block you are on.

As someone else mentioned, the airport isn't a bad option at all because of RTA. If you are looking on the E side and considering RTA, just know that route goes through some pretty rough areas. It's not an issue for just riding the train but you don't want to be staying at a hotel in some of those areas.

If you have any other questions about the area, just tag me.

Here you go...

This is definitely Water Street...I used to live here before heading for the burbs. Warehouse District and four blocks from the Q.

Grand Arcade. Great Location as you are right at the edge of the Warehouse District and about four blocks from Q.

Got rooms in the Brooklyn section, about 6.5 miles away, per the website. Is it a decent area? Not planning on doing any sightseeing there. Just wanna be sure there aren't frequent muggings or car thefts.

Brooklyn is blue collar middle class. It was basically built around a Ford plant.

Driving in from Pittsburgh, so will have a car. Staying at Comfort Inn in Independence, $80 a night.

Around how far a drive is it from Brooklyn to the Quicken Loan Arena? And how much is a all day pass to park there if you would happen to know? Just booked the Hampton Inn Cleveland airport Tiedeman road.

Interesting that is considered an airport hotel as it is just as close to downtown as it is Cleveland Hopkins. You're looking at about 15 minutes.

I would guess around $35 but that may be high. I think that is what they charged for CAVS playoff games parking so they may not try to gouge folks as bad for this. You also have to keep in mind that Thursday and Friday are work days so the other lots will be packed and at normal weekday pricing. Since you are going to be driving I'm guessing that means you won't be drinking. I'd seriously try to find an RTA station and train down. Get dropped off at Tower City and take the enclosed walkway right over to the Q. I know some don't like the hassle of public transportation though.

As convenient as the RTA train is for many who work downtown, they never expanded it enough. There are hardly any hotels along the routes unless you go all the way out to the airport. It needed to be extended out to Beachwood and they should have added a direct South line to Independence or even Broadview as well. I think it's a shame because it would really add a lot to our city.

Saw this on the Q website.

i found a room in February at Aloft Downtown. About .8 miles from arena.

Pretty sure that is brand new and on the E bank of the Flats. They've done a lot over the past couple years to make a serious attempt to revitalize that area. You'll be right by Flipside - great burgers.

Thank you so much for the info. Looks like Uber will be the best ticket. They pretty much pick you up and drop you off when you want. St Louis was our first tournament and now we are hooked, Wish we were faster on the PSWC block hotels but they went so fast,, I mean within a 1/2 hour, Even the service deck at the hotels were shocked they got booked that quick.

Here is a suggestion on the hotel situation in Cleveland for NCAA next year. Go to www.ihg.com (InterContinental Hotels Group) and type in Cleveland Ohio and the dates. You will see downtown is booked but rooms are available at several of their brand family for decent rates as close as 8 miles out of downtown. Brands on the site w/ normal rates include Holiday Inn, HIEX, Crowne Plaza and Candlewood Suites. We did that distance in STL and OK City and Des Moines and it worked out fine.

That's a handsome German short hair in your avatar, sir!

That was my "BROWNDOG". I've had 7 wonderful dogs & he was the BEST. Confident, strong, independent, loving, every person's and dog's friend & the most LOYAL dog ever. Me and "BROWNDOG" had an unspoken trust between us. He was always there for me & I was always there for him... until the end. I could live 100 years and never have another "BROWNDOG". Very few days go by that I don't think about him... maybe because "GUS" ( a new pup) is trying to fill his really big shoes. Sorry for getting off topic.

Thanks for the compliment.
