As I have watched all Penn St games for years, a couple things stand out to me and I have to believe these issues identify the need to make changes at a couple coaching positions. To me, these are fundamental issues.
#1 - For the past couple years, our WRs can’t seem to catch the ball. We have changed WRs between last year and this year, but it remains an issue. Many VERY catchable balls are being dropped regardless of personnel. This needs to be addressed!
#2 - Our DBs never seem to know how to play the ball. Over and over, our DBs manage to get twisted around or have no idea where the ball is when it seem like they should be knocked down or intercepted. To me, this appears to be the case regardless of the defender. I have to believe this is correctable with good coaching.
Am I off base with these observations?
