What's everyone's expectations? I realize the staff is handcuffed coming up historic sanctions, but by year 3 (4 at the latest) I would expect this team to be fairly competitive.

My litmus test is for this staff to have a winning record again Ohio State and Michigan. EVERYTHING related to team goals (Division Title, Big 10 Championship, National Title etc) revolves around beating Ohio State and Michigan. Not Rugters, Pitt, or Maryland. So far they are 0-2. I feel IF we continue to improve this year, we have a shot at beating Michigan at home. If not, the staff will be 0-4. My worst fear is they start off 0-6, which is very possible due to these sanctions.

I wasn't alive much of the 80s and am too young to remember the entrance into the big ten, but over the years I see a lot of posters frustrated with the coverage of the Midwestern media and sometimes the national media. I live in the Midwest now and do feel and do feel there is a biased towards Michigan and Ohio State. Not just by the Media, but the fans of the other schools in the Big 10. When Iowa has struggled to beat Ohio State for the last 60 years, they won 8 out 9 out against PSU. Wisconsin has had a lot of success against PSU and the same with MSU, but not has much against Ohio State and Wisconsin. It's unfortunate timing with Joepa getting old and college football in general having more parity. But the success against PSU and not against Michigan and Ohio State has elevated those schools in the eyes of the media.

The only way to change the bias of guys like Farrell and Friedman, Midwest journalists, and other trolls is to not only beat Ohio State and Michigan in recruiting, but on the field. I didn't look up the records, but PSU's record against OSU isn't very good. It's not bad against Michigan and it helps we have beat them on the field.
