The animal house thread got me thinking . .Didn't want to hijack so I'm starting this .
Will farrel. ...Hilarious . John C. Rilley equally as hilarious if in the right part. Stepbrothers was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while .
Dave Chapelle. Probably the funniest stand up comic since Eddie Murphy. I like a total of three stand ups. . Murphy, Chapelle and Eddie Izzard.
Kris kattan.. That shit he used to do on SNL as kippy strug was gold.
And Danny McBride. Has to be hands down the funniest guy on TV today.
And I don't find chicks funny at all. .Ever.

Seinfeld

Mitch Herbert - dude died way too soon

Definitely Mitch Hedberg. I’ve seen Carrot Top live a few times, and he is pretty hilarious. Greg Giraldo was another one that died too soon. Again, seeing him live was much better than what you saw on his roast appearances.

The show with Grialdo, Collin Quinn and Patrice O'neil was awesome!. Can't remember the name though ..

Current:

John Mulaney - Check out his "New in Town" routine on Netflix
Bill Burr
Jim Gaffigan

Past:

Don Rickles
George Carlin
Steven Wright
Robert Klein

Love Gaffigan. And he does it with 'clean' humor. Others:

- Sarah Silverman
- Aziz Anzari
- Donald Glover (doubt he does stand-up anymore but his 'Weirdo' stand up special is really good)
- Sascha Baron Cohen
- Michael Cera
- Seth Rogen
- Jack Black
- Keegan Michael Key
- Jordan Peele
- Tina Fey
- Nick Offerman
- Fred Armisen
- David Cross

Standup comedy? Or comedic actors? Standup comics as actors? Wasn't sure if OP had a specific direction here.

My favorite standup comics ever:
Chris Rock
Jim Gaffigan
Dave Chapelle
Kevin James
Robin Williams
George Carlin
Eddie Murphy

I'm probably forgetting a few. One of my favorite comedian memories was meeting a GF's family the first time (early 90s) and Richard Jeni was playing on the TV. I was trying to contain myself whilst he discussed some questionable material, not knowing where her parents fell on the conservative spectrum. Which probably made it funnier than the show actually was. Good times.

in terms of standup, to me, Robin Williams and Carlin were as good as there has ever been. Dangerfield and Kenison are close. Chris Rock, Hacket, Rickels, Pryor....all really great. Dane Cook had some flashes.

I was at a Carlin show when half the audience walked out (not long after 9-11 he went into a routine about how good the USA was about killing brown people, he was trying it schtick out for an HBO special...that part didn't make the special).

The new generation seems so angry. Plus, they all revert to f bombs, sex and gross stuff; way to easy. I have a hard time enjoying their acts.

Tom Segura

Look up his bit on The First 48. Not sure how to embed from my phone.

He’s fantastic.

I’d add Sebastian Maniscalco, and if you want something very different, Eddie Pepitone.

Norm MacDonald is the best living stand-up.

Current comedians are lazy. Carlin would work for 6 months to perfect a 45 minute routine. Every word was carefully scripted and well thought out. Dangerfield was the same way. Carson spent hours and hours every day on his 7-minute monologue. Today the comedians stand up and criticize politicians in juvenile ways or just drop f-bombs. No creativity. No struggle and effort. Just lazy money hungry sluggards.

Mitch Hedberg was the best standup comedian I ever had the pleasure of seeing live. I'd probably put Dave Chappelle a close second.

Lol .. .you're going back aways...
Rodney Dangerfield
Bill Cosby
George Carlin

Richard Pryor was too foul mouthed for my taste. Lots of good ones. Jerry Seinfeld, Mitch Hedberg, Robin Williams, the blue collar guys, etc. Favorite woman Kathleen Madigan.

Honorable mention John Pinette

I remember that I went to go see Gallagher at the Akron Civic Theater (that was under ownership and management of a female friend). The guy was really funny and killed it. (why doesn't good and food rhyme?) . Later, I had dinner with the lady and she said he was a real a-hole. If you've seen him, the end of his act was him smashing various things with a large mallet. The Theater was an old ornate thing that had its heyday in the 50's. They were very protective of their seats and stuff. When Gallagher got some limitations put on him before the show, he threw a fit and demanded to see the manager. When she walked up to meet him, he said "No wonder, a girl!" and demanded to see the owner. When she said she was the owner, he threw a fit. She finally said that these are the terms of the theater and they are prepared to cancel the show. He acquiesced, complaining the whole time, and just killed it.

Agree he was pretty funny. Never saw him but listened to him on XM a lot. I couldn’t tell if he was naturally nervous or if that was just his act
