coming 2/10: Flo documentary on J Rob

Can't wait. J Rob is a real favorite of mine. He has worked tirelessly to promote college wrestling for many years. I know his better days are behind him, but what a great career he had. He was integral to the success of the Iowa program and built MN. up from nothing.

Also allowed a rivalry to develop which is good for those fan bases and the sport as a whole.

Dare I say he has transitioned well from the I want to be somebody years to the I did it fairwell tour.

JRob is an icon in wresting but think he has caught a bit of the condition that JoePa got ..shouldaleftawhileagoitis ...with all the kudos he deserves .my myopic negative opinion of him is totally skewed by the trash he laid on Frank Molinaro several years ago which lead the entire Goofer lemmings on a hate tirade against Frank ...poor Zilverberg got the full wrath of 'stalling Frank' a few weeks later at Big Tens

Today is 2/10.

Is there a launch time or link for the full version of the documentary?

It was versus the freshman Dylan Ness not Zilverberg. He would end up crushing him in the big ten final and beating him on one leg in the ncaa final if memory serves me right.

No it was Zberg. Molinaro gassed bad and developed a lung injury time out just as ZBerg was storming back in the match.

Now Jamenez .....tell the 'whole story' ...first ...Frank never had 'gas tank' issues the entire career I watched ..so I'll go with the 'injury' call ..the gas tank BS was JRob's invention and all the Minnesota fans took as gospel ...now tell the rest of the story when Frank wrestled Zilverberg 2 or 3 weeks later at Big 10's ....tech fall right ...some ungodly score of 16 to 0 or something similar he sure musta found a gas tank in a hurry

Then you'll concur that Tony Nelson's injury time vs. Gwiazdowski was a lunger. Somehow J Rob had very little to say about that one.

Don't care about the incident with Frank, I do like the result though. JRob's opinion gained a lot of traction. The next year choice was given to the opponent of a wrestler using injury time. Shockingly injury time decreased drastically throughout the entire nation. The sport of wrestling won in the end with that rule.

If you ever get the chance to talk to JRob in person, you'll find that he's a good guy. Sure, he has opinions and isn't afraid to say them, but I like the fact that he's willing to speak his mind, even if I don't agree with him. He's also had some things to say about the NCAA. You know, the same NCAA that overstepped it's bounds and tried to take JoPa's wins out of the record book.

Do people really think that MN fans standpoint is that Zilverberg was the superior wrestler to Molinaro??

Side note: Remember when Z got the first takedown on Taylor? That was cray.

nope ...don't remember that takedown ....do remember the end result ...no big deal about a TD ...guys who actively engage and make lots of shots are gonna lose a TD ...they just compensate by getting more TD's

so the end result was good for wrestling ... he used one of the worst possible examples of 'taking a lung time out' by using Frank ...like 'laughable'

it was cray, don't ya know :), lol.

What was the score of the rematch of Zberg v. Molinaro?

8-0. jRob should of called himself out for the lack of preparation at BigTens. Amazing Tank was able to finally get in shape in only a couple weeks after not being able to do it all season

JRob sometimes allows his emotions to direct his mouth and the result can make him appear to be a bit of a goof. Which if you think about it, the head goofer should occasionally be a goof.
However, he made Minnesota into a wrestling power. He did show everybody it was not necessary to be an Iowa or Oklahoma school to be a perennial championship threat.
He has spent his entire adult life promoting wrestling.
He loves the sport and has contributed many, many more positives than the occasional negative.
I have a cup of coffee in hand and here's to JRob and I raise my cup

J Rob took a little shot at Mark Hall when a newspaper reporter asked him this week about Hall committing to PSU:

"Mark Hall is going to go where Mark Hall wants to go. Mark said he wants to be the face of Minnesota wrestling; I don’t see how you can be the face of Minnesota wrestling if you leave the state. I like Mark Hall a lot, but Mark Hall is going to do what is best for Mark Hall."

Haha sensitive group here. Had no point in the Z first TD, just a fun memory of him getting it and riding him for a little bit in a big dual and keeping it to a major. Obviously Taylor was on another level. Now Taylor is sponsored by Zilverberg with All Force Nutrition. Funny how life works out.

Frank doesn't have a history of lunging and perhaps he didn't against Z, but even if he did one match who cares?Brett Pfarr has phenomenal conditioning, but against Purdue he was sucking air by the end. He put it on the kid, but could hardly stand at the end of the match. Illness, training, or maybe the Purdue guy made him work for it. IMar vs Nolf was on empty as well. He also doesn't have a history of that. So many variables that the fans are unaware of. Like I said lungers are way down with the rule change and that is a good thing.

J is one tough SOB. I can't believe that he is still coaching after those surgeries and all he has been through. I am very excited to watch this. Flo does a great job with these. Terry was nothing short of amazing imo.
