Both teams are young, well coached and going to be enjoyable to watch for years to come. Lots of chatter at Hershey this weekend, could Faith beat Becca? I had a chance to talk to a few parents from Faith, very nice people. They said their best class of kids are coming in next year and they Middle school team is ranked #1 in the state. Good lord,

I'm a small school guy. I wrestled at one and coach at one. I hate in general that in a good year our best to hope for is top 3 or 4. We have always had a kid or two that legally moves across a boundry with their whole family at the beginning of JH and stays forever. I think that happens everywhere. What these teams are doing is blatant and different. Does it matter that FC recruited an AllStar team in JH instead of HS? These teams are doing what they have to to win, I dont blame them. The PIAA is letting it happen, so it is what it is. At this point, PA HS coaches should all be recruiting, its the only way to compete.

This is sad but true. I don’t know a single public school coach that wouldn’t like to have kids move into their program. Your outlook on this is right on, the only way Public schools can compete is bringing kids in. You could co-op with a private school like coach Harer & Chest nut ridge or have open enrollment like Reynolds & Burrell.

The PIAA is allowing this to happen. I have said this once or twice. AA, AAA and Private team championships. Individual is one mega tournament

It's really sad what we are seeing. It's not even enough for these teams to be good enough to win PIAA. The adults running these programs aren't happy unless they beat even the beat teams by 50.

I think that separating into 3 divisions is a short term solution. In a few years, the "Team USA" schools will be tired of wrestling a bunch of teams with kids who never wrestled until 9th grade (most private schools), and then they'll take over a few public schools. In the meantime, a lot of private schools with struggling programs likely drop the sport. He'll may can't keep kids on the team for a full season as it is - being a new wrestler in high school sucks.

It's really sad what we are seeing as it's killing the sport for your "nomal" high school athlete. It's not enough for these teams to be good enough to win PIAA. The adults running the programs aren't happy unless they beat even the beat teams by 50.

Allowing unfettered recruiting is bad in the long term as well. You'll end up with a few more all-star teams at different tiers, but will kill participation numbers overall.

I don't have the answers, a d would hate to be on the PIAA's shoes as they are in a no win situation. Outside of stronger penalties against coaches/ADs/administrators, there is no way to enforce anti-recruiting/athletic transfer rules without hurting kids. If you keep kids from competing, half of the population goes bonkers. If you don't the other half loses their shit.

This year was probably the worst with respect to how dominant the top privates are - top 3 in AA and Becca. Next year McCort is back and has a bunch of high-level 15 year old 8th graders, and FCA brings up a few more MS State Champs over each of the next 2 years. I don't know exactly what NDGP and Becca have coming up, but I am sure they won't go away quietly. I don't see how PIAA doesn't do something, but don't see how it improves anything.

I have always objected to parochial schools competing in public school state tournaments in all sports!

Lombardi says people who argue private schools have an unfair advantage are whiney pussies just making excuses.

Not a direct quote, but damn close to his statement last year after the PIAA basketball championships. Thata boy Bob.

Lombardi could care less about kids, he is money driven and love the power trips. I heard ❤️man is mad, NDGP didn’t win the title. He thought for sure letting Bouzakis in and clearing him would be enough. I Can’t imagine how many jersey kids will be on NDGP next year. The comeback is on

Most states don't allow it, at least those states that I am familiar with except for PA. My father went to Pittsburgh Central Catholic and he was shocked when years ago I told him they were competing in the WPIAL, which they did not do when he went there.
