‘Nova showed on Sat night why they were ranked #1 most of the year. They obviously had their A+ game for 40 minutes.

Brunson also showed why he was Player of the Year, I think it was ridiculous that the OU guard got so many votes (he was maybe player of the year in Nov-Dec, but really was just a very ave player the rest of the season). When Brunson committed to you out of high school I told you all he was something special and he truly didn’t disappoint in any way.

Sorry KU didn’t put up a better battle, the long season just caught up with them. They massively overachieved all year long. No one thought they could win an improved and competitive Big 12 regular season.....or the Big 12 tournament.....or make a run in the NCAA. Still disappointing going out playing so poorly, but, again, much of that was ‘Nova buzzsawing them from the opening tip.

(And yes it was a charge.)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE finish off UMich tonight.

Illinois, big debate out here was whether this was on Bill Self for not imploring the kids to guard the three point line earlier and trying to force the offense to the big guy (Can’t spell his first or last name) down low.

Still waiting for the blood and urine test results to come back on ‘Nova’s players.....could still be a KU - UMich game tonight!

Shouldn’t be too much of a debate. Self made decent choices and KS played well. Can’t beat a team draining 3s like they’re free throws. Wasn’t much forcing to be had. Villanova would have gobbled up the 2s if the lanes were open so 3s weren’t. That was a game of %s and Villanova’s shooting was one for the ages.

KS has serious talent but Villanova has solid shooters and played well as a team. Many of those 3’s came off great passing.

Michigan is a different animal. Not as much talent as KS (ahem, they WERE trailing Loyola much of the game) but they’re another solid team with a serious defense. It’s no surprise they went on hot-streaks late the last two years as the system overcame the talent gaps. If their shooters get hot, more importantly if Villanova’s don’t, possible they could give Villanova a harder time than KS. Most seem to disagree on that but I think it’s more worthy of discussion than Self’s errors.

I was a little unclear regarding forcing the offense. I meant that KU was trying to force their own offense down low instead of the dribble drive and distribute that the played most of the year.

And, had Villanova scored twos instead of threes, it’s a much closer game.

Does anyone understand why this game starts at 9:20 Eastern time? That means it won't be over until after midnight so working stiffs like myself won't be able to see it. I speculate that working stiffs in the Eastern and Central time zones will miss the game. Why doesn't the game start at say 8pm Eastern time? What is the rationale for starting having the national championship game run from 9:20 pm until after midnight? Don't the advertisers want anyone to see it except those avid basketball junkies in Tahiti?

Totally agree. Too late for me to watch the whole thing.
Must be the west coast factor, can't start it before 6:00pm their time (?).

;) Maybe next year.

Fantastic! Great team, selfless players, terrific coaching. Liked this line tonite—“ keep the dribble going— tease the bigs”!
