The PSU Club Wrestling Team (Main Campus) won the NCWA Mid-East Conference Championships yesterday and are sending 10 wrestlers to Nationals. A great accomplishment for a student-run program.
Outstanding !!!! Keep it going....The PSU Club Wrestling Team (Main Campus) won the NCWA Mid-East Conference Championships yesterday and are sending 10 wrestlers to Nationals. A great accomplishment for a student-run program.
Just out of curiousity, if someone on the club team was performing well (like at 133), could he be moved to the wrestling team?Outstanding !!!! Keep it going....

Burnsie1983 is correct. Scott took 3rd at NCWA Nationals 2 years ago and was asked to try out for the D1 team after the season. I am not sure what the rules are for an in-season move.I believe that Scott Stossel was on the club team, but hes on the varsity squad now.
Agree, just wasn't sure if a wrestler could move from club to the team.Sure we could but understand the difference between club and a D1 team. Odds are that Carpenter or Law would clobber a club national champ. The two are just not comparable.
Just a guess, but if Jan Johnson can join the team mid semester I would think a club sport student athlete can join mid semester.Burnsie1983 is correct. Only thing that could stop it is a full house. Haven't been there in a while, we're limited to 37 in the room.
I would agree that the competition level in the NCWA is not comparable to the NCAA Division 1, but there are some very good wrestlers in the NCWA.Sure we could but understand the difference between club and a D1 team. Great question. It's tied to the challenges of meeting Title IX, and in our case, is determined by the Athletic Department as a compliance requirement. We don't hear much about this, but the number has been publicly stated, that I have heard, many times in the past.Roar - Is the 37 limit related to a NCAA rule? Or does each school have their own way of determining? Thanks
Yeah, that's definitely not an NCAA rule. I remember a few years back, Navy had 62 guys on their roster. By comparison, Hofstra has a roster cap of 20 (and I believe Northwestern's is even lower, at 18).Great question.
