This thread idea came to me seeing a post from @Lion8286. If those were the years he was matriculated at Penn State, he’s got a pretty good case for being there for the best Win-Loss record over a 4 year stretch (grad years and extra Belushi years don’t count people!)

What are your Freshman - Senior years and what was the team’s record during that time?

Started 1970 graduated 1974 spring. Undefeated senior year with Cappy winning the Heisman. Without looking we only had a couple losses while I attended.

No way is it gonna be 82-86. For one thing, that's five football seasons. But even counting all five, you end up stuck with 83 and 84, which were not all that great.

Now if there's anyone here who matriculated between the seasons of 1968-71 (40-4) or 1971-1974 (43-5), they definitely have a case!

That said, the five-year period 82-86 includes two national championships, and there's no way to beat that.

By the way, I went to...don't laugh...the University of Scranton, so I'm not eligible for participation in the contest. But my Dad went to Penn State (1948-52) so I should get a pass... ;)

I was a 4.5 year student at PSU.

1974: 10-2 Cotton Bowl win
1975: 9-3 Sugar Bowl loss
1976: 7-5 Gator Bowl loss
1977: 11-1 Fiesta Bowl win
1978: 11-1 Sugar Bowl loss.

Overall: 48-12. 80%.

Loved my time as a student. Love being back in town as a retiree.

Without counting it all up 1984 was a bad year. 86 was my first year at U Park I guess and we won the Natty. That's ballgame for me. 87 was good if I recall. 88 and 89 not too good. Could be foggy memory. Not a great record % but they hit the lotto while I was enrolled. Good enough.

40-9 which is pretty good but I'm sure others have better. It was 2 good years, 1 great year and one (fart noises) year. 1991-1994 seasons.

Started in '67, graduated in '71, but hung around for the '71 season and took some classes while waiting for my Army enlistment height waiver to clear.

8-2-1
11-0
11-0
7-3
11-1
48-6-1

Can't recall why we didn't go bowling in '70.

06-10 (graduated in 2011). Nothing to write home about for football, but not the worst stretch for basketball (NIT champ in 08, NCAA in 10-11).

1991-1995

91 - 11-2 (Ranked 3)
92 - 7-5 (No ranking)
93 - 10-2 (Ranked 8)
94 - 12-0 (Ranked 2 - should have been NC)
95 - 9-3 (Ranked 13)

49-12
