Corman, We Want It Back.

Maybe - just like with the $60 million....

Jake can find a way to have those $$$ placed under his "care". That will get him motivated.

Just like his boy McCord (facing charges for using his control of government funds to extort campaign contributions) Jake would love another chunk of influence peddling cash.

Regardless

he moved the needle more than anyone is this entire ridiculous scenario. I understand the angst that he didn't go further, the politics and the rumors. But in the end, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The NCAA totally capitulated, we learned a ton of information and that will be used in several cases moving forward. Now, he can use that template against the B1G and move the needle further.

I just don't understand the angst on this board regarding Corman (in relativity to PSU).

I think the angst comes from the fact that like Bush in Iraq (and at the behest of Schwarzkopf), Corman could have taken things much further than he did. And allowing the $60mm to be disbursed elsewhere was wrong IMO.

We need this guy to take it to the NCAA!

It is a fair question, but I think there is a good answer.

Corman is the senator from PennState. The question is which PSU does he represent? The Old guard BoT? The Dave Joyner club? Or us?

As politicians will, given half a chance, Corman played that along for a very long time without SEEMING to make any choice. In fact, he is STILL riding that fence. But when he allowed the emails to be sealed back up (a fact he did not reveal when he did it) lots of us began to see him as a two timer. That is on HIM. That is how he chose to play it.

Yeah, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but no enemy must be dealt with more harshly than the "pretend friend."

He has some opportunities with his new leadership role, to move things forward for PSU. he scotched a couple of them a few weeks ago, and now he has yet to co-sponsor the bill.

I do not trust him. that is on him as well. He needs to pick a side or be treated like the enemy of both. Except...you know what? I do not see our enemies in the Dave Joyner club treating him like he is their enemy. They are treating him like he is their friend. If the enemy of my enemy is my friend, what do we say about the friend of my enemy? Hmmm?

thanks...great answer

but I expect nothing less from politicians and people in power.

I've been blessed to be around and watch power brokers all of my career. I've been amazed at how they call their shots. By that, I mean that they surrender their scruples in picking their battles. They will allow great harm to occur as long as it doesn't affect their patch or, in some way, further's their specific agenda.

If you are searching for perfection in a politician, you will be searching for a long, long time (or, will end up supporting someone that doesn't advance past school board).

IMHO, Corman furthered our agenda (on the Paterno issue) much further than anyone else. He may have provided the golden key. For that, I thank him. Hopefully, someone else will pick it up from there. I wish him God-speed with the B1G. Beyond that, I couldn't care less.

Re: Regardless

Totally agree... Actually beside Paterno Family and Wick Sollers... They are the ONLY ones doing anything on our behalf... Who have any real power and influence.

pretty interesting analogy....

Bush was very concerned about losing the "high ground" by massacring Iraqi soldiers. The road from Kuwait to Baghdad became known as "the highway of death". What was put in place was a "ground game" that was expected to overthrow Hussein, which of course, never happened.

I don't know Corman's motivation for settling, but it does appear he got everything that was "published" to be his goals. Perhaps he felt that he was going for a "bridge too far" (to use another war analogy) and decided to take his political win when he could. Maybe he felt it was time to pass the flag (another war analogy) to someone else to finish the job.

Either way, he gave the Paternos a ton of information and political capital to use. I am disappointed he didn't take it further but and thankful he took it as far as he did.

Here may be the most important thing that you just don't get Ob...

And, if you have been paying attention all along (and I expect you have been), I don't know how you don't realize this:

You say - in reference to Jake - that you are "thankful he took it as far as he did."

Jake DIDN'T take it "as far as he did". Jake tried to terminate the suit not once, but twice, before finally "declaring victory" on January 16. 2015.

Once Covey (in April of 2014) broadened the scope of the case to include the validity of the CD, and the fiduciary negligence of the PSU BOT, Jake TWICE worked in synch with the OG BOT and the NCAA to kill the suit. This was in the Summer and Fall of 2014. Covey (the Commonwealth Court) pushed the thing forward DESPITE Jake trying to kill it.

The "Corman Suit" did lead to significant information....but that was DESPITE Jake's efforts....not because of them.

I've posted that stuff - with all the links and quotes - several times.

UGH. I need to be done with this CD "victory" nonsense.

Re: Regardless

I also agree with Obli and think we all need to be careful not to scare people away from getting involved to help PSU out of fear that if they do not do 100% of what we demand we call them traitors. We all get the fact that Corman is a politician and politicians will 100% of the time do what is in their own self-interests. I made a comment on this board when Corman was elected majority leader that it would likely drive him to get his case resolved as that is a " distraction" his party would not want their leader to be involved in. That is a simple reality. But there is no doubt PSU football and the anti-establishment is in a better position today than before Corman filed his suit.

Re: Regardless

To me there is just something disgusting about working you ass off to bring money under the control of the agencies that did more to allow a person like JS to thrive than anybody. If this money goes to any of those agencies it's a crime.

Re: Here may be the most important thing that you just don't get Ob...

IMHO we need to look at what Corman's initial goal was when he filed suit. It was to keep the 60M in PA, right? So, if he was inclined to terminate the suit at any point in time, and would accomplish his goal, then there is certainly logic in his thought process. His goals were not the same as ours and his was more narrow. The fact that his suit allowed us to accomplish more than just the 60M may not be due to anything he personally did but nonetheless I don't care who gets credit. That is not to say the battle is over. But IMHO we will win the war by winning battle after battle after battle and being patient enough to take it one battle at a time. The battke Corman initiated was won and is over. The Paterno et al battle is next and we need to win that one and then move to the next one.

He's the Senator from PSU. It is his problem no matter what.**

Yes, lets continue to dump on the one guy who in this whole

mess actually stood up to and was victorious over the NCAA. And oh yes lets project that he is really just another BOT stooge. That is pretty insulting really. Sorry Corman did not take the NCAA down for you, but he has done more than anyone else. I appreciate his efforts.

Since $$$$$$$$$$ always gets an open eye and a story line............perhaps one in position could tell the DAMNED media (and use it) of WHY this money should (will) come back to Pennsylvania..........Now there is a STORY!!!

Oh........because there were NO NCAA violations.................OH.............and NO ONE at Penn State tried to cover up anything...........OH..........I get it now............and I don't eat meat because I am a veternarian....................

That's been my point all along. There are 30 other state senators who sat around with their thumb up their a$$ the last 3 years, yet not one of them gets their feet held to the fire.

I think it's great that he intends to go after the Big Ten. Let me know when any of the fence sitters do something on our behalf.
