Not sure how many of you guys follow PSU wrestlers on IG, but I’ve seen several recent posts showing Yianni and Vito hanging out with PSU guys. Cenzo has reposted a couple of them.

Are they in town for a training camp with Dake/Taylor?

David has a huge BBQ going on Sat. Guy from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives was
seen driving past Rec Hall as well

For those wondering now, I think we can conclude Van Ness just made a huge cut to 138 for his team. Yes, it sounds asinine that a kid as good as him does that but I think it only proves what a team player he is. He has the blue collar mentality like @smalls103 mentioned. He is the last one in the room always.

Yeah. His performances a couple months back were not at the same level as he had been previously. Not to say that the guys he lost to aren't great wrestlers, too, but he was the #1 ranked kid in the class for a reason. I think a layoff plus a huge cut resulted in those subpar (for him) results.

Cael should have quite a lineup “problem” at 141/149 this year.

No way he gonna be a 141,hell he could be on his way to 157 THIS year. Kid is thick.

So 125 isn’t out of the question if it’s a need. Nice!

Cornell is definitely on the move. Could they ever be a serious team title threat? They will always have a few top end guys, but don’t see them ever be a team threat. They seem to spend as much on FS as they do in the Folkstyle areas

hard to see them ever finding a coach as good as koll!!

They have some heavy hitters for sure. Their lineup looks good:
Greg D, Vito, Saunders, Yianni, Yapoujian, Ramirez, Foca, Loew, Darmstadt/Cardenas, Fernandes

Obviously a lot of the talent is unproven but it's a deep team. Foca I know had some great free results but I'm curious about his folk.

I've watched some of Foca's stuff; he's the opposite of Max Dean. He's FS-centric to a fault, IMO. Maybe that will have changed with another year in the Cornell room, but I don't see him as a threat to anyone in the top 3 at 174 or 184.

Whereas Max Dean (shown with Gabe watching the Foca/Starocci match in upper right, on another mat) seems to be the complete opposite. He appears to be a folk guy, through and through, and doesn't have nearly the FS results that he does in folk.

Correct and Koll alluded to Max not being good at freestyle in his Baschamania video. Foca had 2 Ws over NQs his "RS" year (at FLCC) and he's had another year since so it'll be interesting. You're right though, he wasn't lighting the world on fire in folk (got teched by Neal Richards from VMI)

This is Chris Foca, who was Flo's #21 overall ranked guy in 2019 in HS, and #4 at 182? I'm guessing he earned those rankings in folkstyle.

Mixing styles here, but he also beat Poznanski (Rutgers 4th @ NCAAs) in freestyle this year.

Where did I say Foca didn't earn any rankings? I didn't even talk about a ranking.

You said something mildly critical/not explicitly positive about someone associated with Cornell.

As such, you received the required and predictable response.

Actually, that's not the case. I'm curious why people are dismissing Foca's folkstyle chops when he was one of the best folkstyle guys in the country in high school.

As for Foca's losses at the Southern Scuffle: I heard that he wasn't really trying in a few of those matches.

(how'm I doin'?)

Is it that wrong to say maybe we shouldn't pencil him in as a Top 3 guy? That's not really dismissing his folk abilities.
