Could Carter go #1?

Not bad for prospect #232 on the 2022 Rivals top 250

Recruiting rankings can be inaccurate, and they certainly are not absolute destiny for teams or players.
Which is why I believe more in coaches evaluation. If I remember correctly, Manny was talking about Carter during the Summer before his freshman year. He wasn’t a January enrollee, and Manny was anxious to get him on campus.

Seeing how Abdul and Chop developed into back to back 1st round picks under Deion Barnes, I don't know how someone could choose another DL coach. Especially if you're from PA. I'm glad Enai White realized this and is coming back home. Too bad Zahir and Wydeek are choosing to leave the state when you have a Philly guy right here in PA to coach you into a 1st rounder.

None of the QB's are "can't miss prospects" and wouldn't likely be 1st rounders in a typical year. Carter will be great to exceedingly great as his floor is very high. He also plays probably the second most important position on the field, stopping the most important position. Passing on him for one of these QB's is what gets people fired, but so does taking him if Ward or Sanders end up being solid starters or better.

It's a QB league and some teams are in a never ending search for one which is ruinous to the entire franchise.

I think Vegas or the Giants will do something stupid to move up and Carter goes 2nd to Cleveland but if Tennessee says put and signs Darnold or someone it's definitely possible.

If they drafted the best football players in this draft in order, I would have the three best football players (in any order) as Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter & Tyler Warren. However the draft doesn't work that way.

#1 player in the draft. Best player inCFB.

Guess the OT’s from ND aren’t in the draft, huh? Not even one hanky was needed, apparently.

🤦🏻‍♂️

There's a couple Michigan guys and a Georgia guy in that conversation as well. Carter, to me, is the best. But Hunter is 4 or 5. Warren...we'll see top 10 for sure.

Respectfully, if you understand what the ranking mean, it wasn't inaccurate at all. Stars are about likelihood for certain impact in college football based on their HS performance.
Some of the very few 5-stars flop. A few of the huge numbers of 2-stars will excel.

5-star recruits
Elite talent who have dominated their competition
Expected to be impact players in college and have the potential to play in the NFL
Only a few dozen players receive this ranking
Often receive offers from top Division-I programs

4-star recruits
Outstanding prospects who are expected to make a big impact on their college team
Often ranked highly in their state and nationally
Expected to play professionally after college

3-star recruits
Good prospects who may need more development before making a big impact on their college team
Often ranked very high in their state or region
More likely to play professionally after college

Don’t know where he gets picked. Doubt it #1. Almost always a QB. Would be awesome if he and Warren went 1-2. 😻

But he is probably the only player in history whose draft position went up while playing with one arm, out of position and against a top five team.

Simply an amazing accomplishment to play so well out of position and injured. 👍

Somebody will give the Titans an offer they cant refuse at 1 and trade to get Cam Ward. I dont think the titans want to draft another QB when they can get Cousins or Darnold or someone like that

What was the point of your elementary explanation?

You don't find it in the least interesting that recruiting "experts" found 231 prospects rated ahead of Abdul Carter?

I'm not convinced that's true
I don't know if any team truly wants Ward or Sanders--maybe it's a repeat of the Kenny Pickett draft regarding QBs

I think he’s the best player in the draft and plays one of the most important positions.

He should go #1 but it’s probably going to be Ward or Sanders, neither of which are worthy of going first.

I think Sheduer is going to be a pretty good qb, I've seen enough of his skills. I'm not sure he's a good team guy or a winner, which is an important part of being a truly successful quarterback. Lots of dudes have had great physical skills and arm talent without being a good quarterback, we'll see. Not many great qb's were "me" first guys.
I'm not judging but he wears a diamond encrusted dog color and drives a Lamborgini....Ok maybe I'm judging.

I wouldn't put Will Johnson or Mason Graham in best player in the draft category, maybe top of the pack in the next layer. I would put Jalon Walker in that category though. He would be my fourth guy with the previous three.

I think both of them are top 4
Johnson's a better CB than Hunter
Graham is the best interior lineman by a lot IMO
I think you're overvaluing Warren--I think he should go 7-10 but won't go until the teens.

QBs are hit or miss at this point--not even sure if there's a ton of logic behind it
I'd take Sanders over Ward but...I don't feel great about them
Of course, I wasn't sold on Stroud and I look dead wrong on that even with him taking a step back this year

Warren & Hunter are the best two football players in the draft in my opinion. If there was a QB or WR or DE next to Warren's name, half the league would be try to trade for the 1st pick but he's a tight end and the value isn't there at that position.

I think Carter > Warren and Johnson >>> Hunter as a DB but it's all just opinion. Just like I'm not sold on Jeanty at all.
It's why drafts are a cluster--you just never know
I will say--I thought Brock Bowers was the best player in last year's draft--I don't think Warren's on his level but i'm not sure any TE ever has been including Kelce, Gonzalez, etc.
