Crookham to Lehigh

In 2019, I went up to Edinboro to watch Beard, Big Snacks in their Open. Sasso was was also wrestling. He was pretty slick in the semis. In the finals he had to use his defensive skill to earn the win.

Mr Crookham always talked bout Lehigh but I just never thought it would happen. I think the staff is really a great bunch of guys I think Ryan will do well anywhere.

Per the chart you linked he is Advanced, and well short of Elite. Just saying. Still pretty impressive.

You're right. I took 13% off of the figures in the chart to allow for his age, not realizing that the chart was already doing that.

I believe Lehigh was the odds-on favorite from the beginning, though one never knows until the wrestler and their family make the announcement. Ryan has gone to the Lehigh camps for years, knows the campus and the coaches, and it's in his family's backyard (a 10-15 minute drive). A bit of hindsight says this decision was not a surprise. Good luck to him.

I ran into my contact from Notre Dame Green Pond and asked him about Ryan's decision. Basically as mentioned before it came down to Lehigh and PSU. When I asked what was main reason of his choice, Ryan decided he wanted to stay local to be around family and friends.

Just a thought to consider not related to Ryan situation but maybe other athletes.

I wonder if Covid19 persist if other recruits in all sports that have option to attend a local school will be more likely to consider the local programs.

I'm not surprised. He had narrowed it down to PSU and Lehigh. Santoro certainly played the local card and the potential to be the face of the program.
If it wasn't Penn State,, I'm glad it was Lehigh.

This article doesn’t mention PSU as one of his finalists

Ok mark me as a rabble rouser. It's so early I would not be shocked to see Crookham open his recruitment back open next year.
