I have 5 people in my family, but the rooms sleep 3 or 4 people. If the prices are per person, how do rooms get assigned? There are a bunch of room options, but the ships don’t seem to charge by the room. WTH? How do I get a good deal on a cruise?

I have three kids. We have done it several ways (5 cruises). You can get a suite or family stateroom. But sometimes it is cheaper to get two staterooms next to each other. Disney cruises certainly have family staterooms that can accommodate 5.

My wife and daughter are going on cruise. We booked through American Airlines. Price was the same on Expedia, but was much more expensive on Orbitz. So check several places. Each cruise destination has a "high" season where prices go up.

If you are in fact doing a Disney cruise, find a travel agent who specializes in all things Disney. Many times they do this as a sideline merely to gain credits for their own Disney vacations. I have one who works like this, doesn’t cost us a penny and she helps us out on questions exactly lik e the one you’re asking.

Disney cruises are insanely expensive. So if you want a good deal, go with one of the other lines.

Shop around for cruise rates. THe base price will be the same, but some agencies will throw in some onboard credit.

Once you book a cruise, if the price goes down, you can always get the better rate (up until you pay your final bill, usually 90 days prior to departure)

Yes, he's a jerk. And he still has no air conditioning. bot sycophant and a total fraud.

We booked a Disney cruise (invited the in-laws as well!) for the end of March. My first time on a cruise - same for my little ones. I'm looking forward to it because we booked baby-sitting for my son for when there are evening shows, and we had to crash the internet to secure the Princess Tea and Bippity Boppity Boutique for my daughter (since we were Disney first-timers, we had to wait until others with status got their chance to book) - and we were successful, so yeah - probably haven't felt that thrilled since the Iowa game. Also, hear Disney does everything top notch.

Anyway, also welcome advice for a first-timer.

I get comped a cruise almost every year, mostly Royal Caribbean. While the R.C. ships have been pretty good there is no comparison to a Disney cruise. I've paid for one cruise in my life and that was a Disney. They do all the small things right and you never feel like just a number to them. Friendly staff, decent food, zero wait at bars, larger staterooms, random paintings come to life, cleanliness are just a touch of things they do better than most. When you pull into port and the ship sounds the horn it's the Disney clique "when I wish upon a star". Pretty sure they do it just to say "We are MF'ing Disney and we're better than you"
