Just wondering....did we have ANY rollouts today?

I know our OL sucks.....but the game plans aren't giving them any help. No help whatsoever.

Any mis-direction plays? Any two back backfields? Any quick counts? A series running with McSorley? Nothing? NOTHING?

I can divulge that I shouted for him to roll out for the final three quarters, I'll admit I was a quarter late.

HOW CAN ADULT OFFENSIVE COACHES not come to that conclusion. Frankly I though I was in a dream and we had just gone back in time roughly 15 years, up the middle for 1 on first down too often........ I believe we have the correct players who want to play for our team but their direction is in question in my mind. Of course they can make mistakes, particularly in the first game of the season but to continue to run the same stuff, unimaginative and have no answer for the most simple defensive adjustments, Temple looked like an old Penn State team today.

I do give credit to Temple, they had a very good defense last year and it was all back. They are a good team and today, we are not, offensively at least. WOW, no one could have convinced me that this outcome would occur. I had said it was a trap game of sorts since Temple was going to be no push over as in the past but did not think our offensive game plan would put us in the hole. Not after a full year to correct it anyway.

Not sure how Hack is on the roll-out or his ability to pass on the run, but the NU coaching staff/OC made he same mistake of not moving the pocket in the Michigan game last year until the 4th Q.

Once, Siemian started to scramble and roll out, it was an entirely different O (being able to evade the pass rush and buy time for the receivers to get open).

For the 1st 3 Qs, Siemian was a sitting duck against the UM pass rush (had thought he was still too injured to run), but total change once the OC started to move the pocket (if had done this from the start or even by halftime, would have won the game and not needed to attempt a 2 pt conversion to win).

The diff. however, may be that Siemian (when healthy) was sneaky (tho not graceful) runner - who can run well enough to set up the pass.

If Hack is close to Luck in mobility, shouldn't be an issue.

I suppose it's unlikely given Franklin's "Hack loyalty" and the media circus it would create but if the coaching staff thinks McSorely gives the team the best option to win with the line issues I hope they would consider a change.

Give Hack a chance to see the game from the sideline a bit. He can focus on classes, graduate in the spring, and be a graduate transfer to another school next fall.

Impossible for us to know if Trace would give our offense a better chance of success using a more diverse offense, but I hope the coaching staff would be loyal to everyone on the team and play the player that gives them the best chance, regardless of hype.

It's a new Donovan theory .... play to their strength and to your weakness 100% of the time and something good will happen. It works, just ask Temple.
