David Feherty out at CBS

Wow, very disappointing. Hope he lands at NBC but that will definitely be a decrease in tournaments he's working

disappointing. i like him. his interviews on golf channel are great. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised to see him have his own talk show. he's a terrific interviewer.

This is horrible news. IMHO, CBS had by far the best golf coverage, in large part due to the variety of personalities on its broadcast team. Feherty was the most significant contributor to that diversity. Someone at CBS is totally nuts for not recognizing this. It's either that, or someone from the outside pressured the network into "political correctness." If so, it is a further sad inditement of our society.

Sports television is there for our entertainment, and no other reason. It should not be taken too seriously. Feherty brought everything into proper balance for CBS.

totally agree. he was the foil that provided a little jocularity when the announcers start to take the game way too seriously. McCord is similar but far less talented. Feherity will get a better gig someplace else. The article suggests Fox's golf coverage...but he may end up with something even bigger. His interviews with the shark and the bear are priceless. I think it was with Greg Norman where they are sitting on a sofa BSing when someone cuts the cheese. The two laugh so hard they almost fall off the sofa. Really humanizes golfers who sometime take themselves way too seriously.

He may have had an offer already on the table form Fox? Fox had to realize Joe Buck and the NFL crew didn't cut it at the US Open.

Fererty will be missed at CBS; he was one reason I watched golf on that channel!

David, Salainte!

I love his show on the Golf channel. My only uncomfortable moment during a live broadcast was how he openly rooted for Rory at a Major. Sometimes national pride and passion gets the better of even the best.

Great sense of humor. I was watching a tournament earlier this year. There were two trees. Same kind. One was much taller and bigger than the other. Nantz asked him about the difference. One word answer. "Ambition." Cracked me up.

If you like watching your golf out of order and only care about 7 or 8 golfers, then CBS is the one for you. They're terrible. And Feherty leaving makes them even worse. If he wants it, I'm sure there will be a place on NBC/GC tournaments for Feherty in the future.

Agree with those that think the NBC/Golf Channel relationship doesn't have something to do with this. His show on TGC is KILLER! and he has to be making more bucks on that production than on being a mouthpiece on CBS on the weekends. His talent is insane!
