The carnage continues apace even as Putin's rhetoric is hardening. Today he equated Western sanctions with a declaration of war on Russia and cast into question the very concept of Ukraine's "statehood." This as Zelensky lays a major guilt trip on the West, suggesting that NATO's refusal to institute a no-fly zone over Ukraine is tantamount to enabling the Russian invasion. Separately, in an intriguing development, the Israeli Prime Minister made a surprise visit to Moscow today to meet Putin.

Meanwhile, recall that it was only two years ago that Covid hysteria ruled the airwaves, changed our lives, and took down a President. But our rulers have wrung all the benefit possible from that tale of terror, so Saint Tony has quietly retired from the scene, the masks have come off, the body count has ceased, and the lies have been consigned to the Memory Hole.

Now the Regime has a whole different problem: Senile Joe's train-wreck of a presidency is threatening to take down the entire Dem-Media Party. A distraction is needed...another brand of hysteria to suck all the oxygen from the room while taking people's minds off the crumbling economy, exploding crime rate, open borders, and general sense of disintegration. Enter Ukraine.

It's tailor-made for the propaganda organs. The villain is obviously Putin who was born to play the role. The guy in the white hat is Zelensky, now being cast as a mythical hero for our time. The plot centers around the battle between outgunned Ukrainian resistors and evil Russian invaders. The victims, by the millions, are the Ukrainian people, with scenes of their suffering all too real and horrific. The story writes itself.

As with Covid, when it was crucial to shout down anybody asking hard questions, casting them as kooks and menaces to society, it is equally important with Ukraine to take the same approach to anyone inconveniently wondering why all this happened...and whether it could have been prevented (answer: yes). Such inquiries are deemed traitorous and indicative of a twisted sympathy for Putin. Just shut up and watch the movie, comrade.

It is said that history repeats itself. But rarely has it happened in such short order and spectacularly Orwellian fashion.
