Dental Charges

There was a recent post, thought I might share my experience. Today, simple, periodic tooth cleaning, every six months. In chair at 9:00 AM out at 9:20 AM, hygienist only, no Dentist, charge $184. Seemed high, is this standard?

Last time uninsured 2020 it was about $75.
I bought insurance in 2021 ($42/mo) , now pay nothing.

I would have to look at our bills to see, but the non-standard part is not seeing the dentist. At our dentist's practice, one of the dentists always comes in and looks at the x-rays and your teeth.

Dentists have a nice gig provided looking into mouths all day as a career is not off putting. Pricing for other than typical maintenance is negotiable I have found.

That's about what we pay and usually nearly all is covered by insurance.
