Too much sour grapes here. This is the new way of the world, like it or not. It's dirty and it's slimy and it's currently completely within the rules, and as the poster above said, Urban Meyer has led the way. If we want to play with the big boys, we too will need to do things that we used to think were criminal acts. We are already down that path, although not to as big of a degree. We didn't care when JF brought most of Vandy's good recruits with him when he was hired, and we don't care when JF cherry-picks Pitt's few decent recruits in order to round out our class. And yet, we feign outrage at Harbaugh's tactics, but not because we are truly revolted, but rather because we see that he is making JF's job that much harder. That is what this is all about.
I don't like it, not one bit, but as the saying goes, Lead, Follow, or Get out of the Way. Meyer's leading, Harbaugh is following, and if the rest of us don't like it then we need to get out of the way.
Complete nonsense, James Franklin does not tell kids where they should attend school - they determine that themselves. Complete bull$hit that kids have HISTORICALLY maintained a "Verbal Commitment" after a school loses the coach prior to LOI Day who is recruiting them in that given year - COMPLETE BULL$HIT on your part. Your notion that James Franklin is the first Head Coach to leave a program disrupting their current recruiting class is such laughable nonsense it isn't even funny. Bear Bryant led extremely successful programs at both Kentucky (1946-1953) and aTm (1954-1957) before accepting the Alabama job, his "dream job" and alma mater, for the 1958 season (when asked why he took the Alabama job despite tremendous success at aTm with the "Junction Boys", he said, "Momma called and when momma calls you just have to come running home".). Bryant went on to coach at his self-professed "dream destination position" from 1958-1982. Johnny Majors another great example - the University of Pittsburgh put him on the map as a Head Coach where he was HC for 4 seasons 1973-1976 winning the National Championship in 1976 (his first HC job was at Iowa State where he was HC for 5 seasons from 1968-1972, but had very little success going 9-25-1 in Big 8 games and 24-30-1 overall). He left the University of Pittsburgh immediately following his National Championship season at ASWP in 1976 to take his "dream job" at the University of Tennessee (was born in Lynchburg, TN and played at UT) - he ended up coaching at UT from 1977-1992 where he only left in 1992 because he was given the choice of either resigning or be fired....he choose the former.
There are many, many, many more examples throughout College Football History of Head Coaches LEAVING programs where they have had tremendous success and put them on the map to take their DREAM DESTINATION JOB and when they left putting their former employers RECRUITING CLASS into disarray! Your completely FULL OF $HIT as usual that James Franklin is the first Head Coach in college football history to leave a program where he had his initial HC success in favor of his "dream destination job" and the notion that Franklin has any ability to tell kids that they need to maintain their NON-BINDING "Verbal Commitment" to a program losing their Head Coach when the kids themselves have no desire to do such a thing when the CONDITIONS THEY MADE THEIR VERBAL CONDITIONS UNDER have changed RADICALLY. Franklin has NO RIGHT, OR CONTROL, OVER THESE KIDS DECISION in such circumstances and 100% of the players that "followed him" to PSU did so of their own FREE, AND RIGHTFUL, CHOICE you lying f'ing tool scUM-loving troll. What demonstrates your absurd hypocrisy in regards to your bull$hit claims as to Coach Franklin being the first Head Coach in history to leave a Major College Football program to go to another program or the timing of such a choice and its impact on recruiting - here is a direct citation about Jim "Uncle Creepy" Harbaugh's tenure prior to taking the Stanford Head Coaching job:

University of San Diego (2004–2006) - note this was Harbaugh's first ever Head Coaching assignment was the Raider's QB coach in 2002-2003 prior to taking USD job.
Prior to the 2004 season, Harbaugh was named head football coach at the University of San Diego. In his first year, he directed the Toreros to an overall mark of 7–4, including 5 straight wins to end the season. The following year, the team improved to 11–1 and won the 2005 Pioneer Football League championship. In 2006, USD again went 11–1 winning their second consecutive Pioneer League title in the process. Harbaugh is widely considered the greatest coach in the history of the university.

Guess when he announced he was leaving to take the Stanford Head Coaching job? You got it late-December 2006 a month and a half prior to LOI Day!
OTOH, Creepy "Uncle Jim" Harbaugh is UNQUESTIONABLY the first Major College Coach to ask a recruit and his family if he can show up at their house at midnight on a work/school weekday, "sleepover" in their child's bedroom and have their child skip school the next morning so he can drive to AA with stalker Creepy "Uncle Jim" Harbaugh! Embarrassing the way you scUM-loving trolls are attempting to "spin" this as innovative recruiting, rather than embarrassing, inappropriate, disrespectful CRASS BEHAVIOR and even resorting to absurd "rationalizing" comparisons to Penn State's Head Coach's actions via outright LIES claiming he is the first HC in college football history to leave a program where he had his initial HC success in favor of his "dream destination" program and job! You hypocritical, lying scUM-loving trolls are really too much - some kind of arrogant POS make bull$hit up about others to justify your own douche-bag's sorry behavior. What an @sshole you are.
