I apologize in advance for not having the link but I could have sworn I saw a wrestlestat preseason rankings with Penn State #2 behind Missouri, RBY #2 behind Fix, C Star #2 behind Mekhi...what in the name of.....#^#*%#%?

I can see it maybe in a dual since some of our starters are probably ranked in the 100s right now because they don't have much data yet.

yea they had that on there for a while now!

Wrestlestat.com is an extremely useful tool. It's up to you to decide whether you want to bludgeon someone with it, throw it in a lake or use it for what it's intended.

Do they really have C Star at #2 behind Lewis. Sort of is a major red flag that something is wrong with their rankings.

The ranking system is based off of the history of the program and not just last year. Missouri has more National Championships then PSU overall, so it makes sense.

Penn State will rarely be #1 in the following:
1. Wrestlestat Dual or Tournament rankings
2. Willie or others Recruiting Championships
3. Flo's Team Rankings
4. The BIG10 tournament

But, they will continually be #1 in the middle of every March at the NCAA tournament, which is what really matters. Too many people are at the edge of the cliff, ready to jump for 362 days of the year (and for 21Guns, that is 364 days and 23 hours) with the non-important data (opinions) being disseminated

I don't feel any kind of way about it other than confused bud....but.... RBY is 2-0 against Fix and C Star beat Mekhi.

Since I'd already done a bit of the work:

1. It's just math
2. "Head to head" doesn't really exist
3. There's no decay function on old results

Here's my prior analysis of RBY and Fix. Basically, RBY shouldn't have lost to Thornton his Freshman year.

Haven't checked and don't intend to but, if true and the author is choosing kids who have not yet proven themselves in national championship matches over those who have, and proven themselves more times than once -- sounds like really good preseason, Summer clickbait -- but not a whole lot more.
