Dissecting PSU's Overtime Miscues

I am about to watch it but did this guy mention that not once did they get the ball to Dotson? Run the damn reverse pass with Dotson and let him decide to run it or pass it. Warren has no business on that reverse other than he "played" qb in high school.

Just watched it and no mention of not getting the ball to Dotson.

What was interesting was:

1. All the decisions before the snap of where he was going to go with the ball. I really felt I was watching 2020 Cliff in those clips forcing the ball to a predetermined spot.
2. How many simple whiffs we have from blockers where if they just get a piece of a guy the play would have gotten 2 yards.
3. Backing up my idea that he may have been a 4 star back but Cain isn't the answer. He gets tackled a ton by just one guy.

I also just finished watching the entire game as well. It was a poor game plan that looked liked the offensive coaches were more concerned about establishing the run than winning the game.

On your point 3, that was absolutely not the case with Cain ever during his freshman year. He never went down after initial contact. Whether it’s confidence level or physical related, he’s not close to the RB we saw in 2019. The Cain of 2019 easily scores on that one run in late OT round where he came up a foot short of the goal line.

Yep, every week there are coaches who miss blocks or tackles, don't hit the open hole, or make bad passes.
That only comes into play if you believe a game is lost on one play. I don’t believe that
I do believe most teams lose because they beat themselves

I don’t know about most teams. A great majority of college football games are a talent mismatch

And I agree on that, I m not talking about PSU V MARSHALL I am talking about PSU V IOWA 2021 Marshall v App st 2021 or even PSU V USC in the Rose bowl etc

Exactly. All Warren had to do was lob the ball to Clifford and game over. Certainly there were things you could criticize the coaches about on Saturday, but this simply terrible execution by a kid who played QB in high school. It was a good call and as you can see on the video well set up.

I agree that most games are lost when better teams beat lesser teams but others are lost due to teams or players not playing up to their abilities. As for one play, several were shown in the video analysis of just 7 OTs; there were many instances of missed plays (blocks, tackles, passes, catches, etc.) throughout the game.
