Is Saucan coach the same guy that wanted to forfeit a match a few years back unless all the kids lived in the same zip code. Think it was Beth Catholic match.

...”’tis true, ‘tis pity...
...and pity ‘tis, ‘tis true...”
... :( ...

I would think the Catholic Sports Committee that initiated that rule might want to rethink it.. With the recent history of the Catholic Church they have bigger problems than mixed gender wrestling in a public setting.
Just sayin.

Can't be dirty if it's within the rules.

Dirty might not be the right word, but if I am the kid who worked my butt off all year and then don't get to wrestle in Districts.....I'm not too happy (assuming she is not the starter).

You can say what you want about the rule, this is supposed to be about the kids, and that coach just took away someone's opportunity to wrestle one of his biggest matches (again assuming she was not starter which is what it sounds like). If that is the case, selfish and not cool....imo.

Saucon Valley got a huge break in its state duals opener -- should have drawn Montoursville, ranked around 6th in PA AA. Instead drew Line Mountain, the 4th best team in D4 but the beneficiary of stupid seeding at the D4 tourney.

If D4 had seeded by record within the district, tiebreaker = overall record, then the seeds would've been 1 Montoursville, 2 Southern Columbia, 3 Muncy, 4 Line Mountain. Those first 3 are all ranked top 10 in PA.

But D4 seeded by overall record. SoCo thus got the 4 seed with losses to Seminary and Chambersburg. Muncy got the 5 seed with losses to SoCo, Dallastown, and unbeaten Hamburg.

LM lost to Muncy but it was their only loss, so they got the 2 seed and a greased path to the D4 finals, where they got crushed by SoCo.

...an old story from many years ago...
...a friend of mine was head wrestling coach at a Jr College...
...another member college had a female wrestler that others would forfeit to ...
...I asked his opinion Re: the female and he said, “No problem at all... but I will insist our weighin rule is closely followed - all contestants weigh in at the same time - on the same scale - with only a jock strap permitted...
...she chose not to wrestle...

He won thirteen other kids a district title.

Saucon Coach also sent out a kid that has been hurt at 134 forcing ND to send out Crookman. They injured defaulted the kid as soon as match started. Crookman would of bumped up if not for that play.

Nd will have the last laugh, not the last of this

The issue is with the Church, not the SV coach. The rules are the rules ... if you're determined to compete in a situation that has less restrictive (and non-discriminatory) rules than you chose to put on yourself, then you can expect to fall "victim" to those rules, at some point. If you won't let your boys wrestle a girl, then don't compete in an organization that allows girls to wrestle boys. It's very simple. And don't complain when a girl comes out onto the mat. I'd drive home the point by weighing in a girl at every weight and sending them out there.

You recruit an All-Star team and still can't win because you're discriminating against women? Too bad, so sad.

... interestingly, the church’s ban on wrestling against females does not apply to the state tournament for individual wrestlers... :)

1 thread about D11.

1 post within it about D4 .

10 other districts within PA -- ought to be able to find something to talk about.

I have thought all wrestling season that this forum has had less high school post than previous years.
District 11 is pretty solid this year, both team wise and individual.
Notre Dame will be tough at year end states. Might have 3 state champs..
Nazareth will be a handful next week in team states. They are solid at almost every weight. A couple of studs.
