Does anyone mind if I trash Pat Forde for picking USC?

USC 34 PSU 24

Rose Bowl (38): USC vs. Penn State

When: Jan. 2, 5 p.m.

Where: Pasadena, Calif.

Watchability: For a non-playoff game it gets no better. Red-hot blueblood programs meeting in football’s prettiest setting.

Line: USC by 7.

If the Rose Bowl were a person: It would be George Clooney.

The pick: USC 34, Penn State 24. The Trojans haven’t just won eight in a row; only one of them was even close (21-17 over Pac-12 South champion Colorado). And while the Nittany Lions have been equally impressive in winning nine straight, they haven’t faced an offense with the balance USC possesses – especially outside of Happy Valley. Fight on.

I just . . . I just can't. So OSU, Minnesota, and Wisconsin don't have a "balanced" offense . . .

none of those have as balanced of an offense as USC. That said, the pac 10 looks like garbage this year, so it's tough to get a feel for how good they are.

Its a fair pick but I can just as easily say the Trojans haven't faced a defense nearly as good as ours.
And I'm sorry I saw Colorado, I'm not impressed with a 4 pt win over the Buffs.

that was kind of my point. their offense hasn't faced a D as "balanced" as Penn State's so it is hard to evaluate.

but here's a breakdown of the season stats for USC versus the "offenses" PSU has faced

USC 3170 passing yds, 2487 rushing yds, 1000+ yd rusher, 2 WR over 500 yds

Ohio State 2654 passing yds, 3100 rushing yds, 1000+ yd rusher, 1 WR over 500 yds

Indiana 3335 passing yds, 1862 rushing yds, 1000+ yd rusher, 3 WR over 500 yds

MD 2088 passing yds, 2466 rushing yds, 1 WR over 500 yds

WI 2329 passing yds, 2659 rushing yds, 1000+ yd rusher, 1 WR over 500 yds

Iowa 1936 passing yds, 2063 rushing yds, 1000+ yd rusher, 1 WR over 500 yds

Minn 2128 passing yds, 2237 rushing yds, 1000+ yd rusher, 1 WR over 500 yds

Purdue 3539 passing yds, 1154 rushing yds, 1 WR over 500 yds

Has USC faced an offense as good as ours??
Probably not. I've watched Pat Forde all season on BTN, and lets just say I'm not impressed. Comes across as an officious, smug, highly inflated opinion of himself kind of guy. People have picked against us all year. Good. We'll shove it back in their faces when we beat USC too.

No mention of the Rutgers balanced attack?

There is nothing wrong with what he said.

They have picked against us all year long. Every single game. Does anyone recall Orlando Pace picking Michigan State to beat us a month ago? Remember Grant Greens' buddy Herbie saying the MSU game would be "down to the wire, very close, a psu win at the gun".? 45-12.

Wisconsin? 80 percent of them picked wisky. 38-31

Indiana? Half of gameday including Corso called for a hoosier win. 45-31

Minnesota? 60 percent pick the gophers. 29-26

Maryland? Jones and Flounders call terps. 38-14.

And on and on.

USA TODAY has their picks out, some highlights / lowlights:

- all 7 pick Pitt over Northwestern.
- 6 of 7 pick UMich over FSU.
- all 7 pick Southern Cal over PSU.

- all 7 pick 'Bama over Wash.
- all 7 pick Clemson over tOSU.

- they go 4-3 'Bama over Clemson.

(Fairgambit, sorry, could not find the Rutgers bowl game prediction, guess the seven writers are still pondering.....)

All picks are straight up picks.....they are not picking with the spreads.

Interesting that Clemson dodges bullets all year long yet are picked 7-0 over tOSU's so-highly-regarded (hahaha) "work of art". And 'Bama is only a 4-3 choice over Clemson in the final.....I thought 'Bama was invincible this year. Guess because they play the championship game in 2017 it's a different team than 2016!

George Clooney?!? That guy is retarded. Its a (cough) former medical term.

I have a great idea. Let the talking heads pick the conference champs and the national champion before the season begins. Hand out the hardware and be done with it. Think of all the injuries that would be prevented.
How would Pitt ever win another NC! ND would win them all.....maybe sneak Bama in here and there

It's a USC home game where the visiting team has to travel across three time zones after the holidays/finals and after having a month plus of not playing anyone. That said, if the team that played Wisconsin in the second half shows up, PSU has a pretty great chance to win.

none of those were true away games. the two good team teams psu played on the road you lost to. I am really impressed with psu this year, but they only played 5 true away games. usc only played 5 true away as well, but i am not comparing the two teams in this instance. usc did go on the road to beat uw. but since this is pretty much a home game for usc, I think a lot people are favoring usc. i dont think this is any slight on psu. i think people feel that they are two equally matched teams, but that this is a home game for sc. that is all.

uw's d is a balanced. the rest of the pac 12 is not great at d this yr. col was pretty good. that's about it. the pac 12 is good at offense and usc held opponents way under their normal scoring levels. way under.

Don't know why your so upset. Everyone is intitled to an opinion even if it doesn't agree with yours. Nobody knows for sure what's going to happen until the game is actually played. Take off the the blue and white glasses and worry about the outcome of the game itself not what some analyst thinks what will happen.

Orlando Pace: "Michgan State will handle Penn State easily, look for the Sparty win"

Lee Corso: "I love Indiana over Penn State, by 7 points or more"

You predicted losses in all those games and more, so what's your point?

Just reading the threads, cabron, just reading the threads.
