Does Ohio State throw the game next week to screw PSU?

It’d give them a bye and possibly a home game even if they lose to Michigan next week. And puts Penn State in the championship game to probably lose and then go on the road round 1 and no bye.
Uh, did that person who had that gun to your head in the Game Thread force you to post the dumbest thing you could think of, or they’d pull the trigger?

How’s it give them a bye exactly?

And how was PSU getting a bye by not winning the B1G originally?

Did you ever play sports? Actual sports. Not just on your Mom's computer.

It’s THE GAME. No way in hell they would throw it. Especially since they’ve lost 3 in a row.
Besides…… OSU wants another crack at the Ducks on a neutral field.

Michigan has been the most classless winning team in history. Several times Michigan players have called Ohio State soft. No chance in hell that OSU will go easy on Michigan or make a tactical decision to lose the game.

Wait--to be fair, recently Ohio State has played "soft" in those games--do you disagree?
I agree with the second sentence but can't be mad about the truth or call it classless. I'm sure many would say Ohio State was classless for the final TD today

For instance, I don't agree that Ohio State played soft last year when they lost by one touchdown and McCord threw two interceptions. They ran the ball eight straight times to score in one drive. They were not in any way soft but of course a low class Michigan player called Ohio State soft after the game.

I disagree with Ohio state's last touchdown but apparently Cignetti has been chirping against OSU repeatedly since he has been hired as head coach. I noticed that the after game handshake did not appear to be hostile and Cignetti wasn't critical of the run for the touchdown in his post game interview.

I don't have any problem with the last TD but I'd say Ohio State was "weak" the past couple years--Michigan overpowered them in those games. We can disagree on that. Ohio State wasn't soft against Penn State (the last couple years or this year) and they're a better team now but I can see how Michigan thought they were soft.

Michigan overpowered OSU in first win under the catastrophic non-coaching of Kerry Combs who was fired mid-year. In the next year, OSU held Michigan to about 15 yards rushing in the first half. Jim Knowles had a super aggressive defense schemed and when OSU defender fell down, it lead to a 70 yard TD. Michigan broke the cracks in other very aggressive defensive schemes for a couple of other very long TDs. It didn't overpower OSU with long drives. My comments about last year still stand -- Did Michigan call Washington soft after it greatly outplayed Washington? OSU played Michigan as tough as anyone and if for instance, Will HOward was OSU's qb last year, OSU would have probably won.

In any event, when you win a game, if you have any class you don't call the defeated team soft. Both OSU and PSU could have called teams they beat handily this year soft, but they had the class not to do so. Michigan lacks that class.

I mean, a lot of teams we both played this year were soft...why not say that?
These aren't kids playing a game for fun--they're being paid

I think winning the game is enough. You don't have to pile on. Additionally, piling on hurts you in future years by motivating your opponent. Not an accident that NFL players rarely pile on after wins. For instance, I think Nick Saban hurt Alabama this year by stating how easy it was to play Vanderbilt. [Off topic here, but Alabama looks terrible today]

I think Bama just misses Saban

I have lived in Columbus near OSU's campus. The stars would fall from the sky. The face of the moon would frown. The sun would fail to rise. And hell would freeze over ... before OSU would throw a game to Michigan.
All you have to do is listen to the player interviews after Indiana. OSU has been pointing towards Michigan every day since last year's game.

Do you actually think that OSU would be concerned enough about PSU qualifying for the CFPI and where we are seeded that they would sacrifice an opportunity to exact revenge and defeat UM on what they like to refer to as 'the game'?

They came into Happy Valley earlier this season and exerted their will against the Lions. Their last possession by OSU speaks for itself.

They are not that concerned about us basically because we haven't given them a reason to do so. And while I do believe that we would have a chance to defeat them in a rematch, their concerns are focused bigger fish than Penn State.

And because of this tournament being part invitational, there is no guarantee that losing would provide them with the scenario that you are suggesting.

The conspiratorial thinking around here with certain people is just insane.

OSU doesn't give a rats ass about Penn State. They don't see us as any kind of threat.

OSU will put a big number up on Michigan. Took them vs Indiana today. They will pound Michigan.

That type of thinking is a loser mentality. The OSU NIL donors and the OSU fan base will be pissed off, especially if the loss is perceived to be on purpose (i.e. sitting starters). Day’s job would be in serious jeopardy if they lose and fail to make a deep run in the playoffs. OSU would drop in the polls and may have to go on the road in the first round if the playoffs.

An intentional loss is simply not happening.

Texas is the team that should consider losing next week. Lock up the home game and avoid an extra game against UGa.

OSU and Cheatigan will do anything short of murder to get a head. And on Cheatigan I'm not sure about that murder thing.

This^^^. They don’t give a duck fart about PSU. They can not lose 4 straight to Michigan. Day is under some heat over his lack of results in this game.
