Lost in a snow storm to #16 and finished 10-2

Can both wash and Wash St be ranked higher then us??

I think it depends upon score of UM/OSU game and whether we show up tomorrow. I think we need a descive win tomorrow.

I don't think so, but it doesn't help. Wash St may be left out completely at this point. Or they may be selected to play in Fiesta Bowl. Below would be my updated projection of things hold serve the next two weeks (which surely they won't).

F4: Bama Michigan Notre Dame Clemson
Rose: Washington/Utah vs Ohio St
Sugar: Oklahoma vs Georgia
Fiesta: Washington St vs UCF
Peach: LSU/Florida vs Penn St

In this scenario Fiesta takes their preference of having PAC 12 team. They also take UCF as we saw last year, bowls have no interest in having same school 2 straight years and UCF played in Peach last year. Peach would have no interest in Wash St as they won't travel like a LSU Florida or PSU. Florida/LSU left out in this scenario as there is no chance the Peach does a LSU Florida all sec rematch.

OR
F4 same as above
Rose same as above
Cotton same as above
Fiesta UCF vs Florida/LSU
Peach LSU/Florida vs Penn St

This would be if Fiesta and Peach decide to simply pass on Washington St and/or committee takes care of this for them dropping them out of top 12, which is very possible.

Still a good chance, unless of course Texas, USC or Northwestern pull off big wins next two Saturday's.

The committee has clearly showed they are willing to position Penn St to get in NY6 to date and a convincing win 10 plus over Maryland should solidify that.

When in doubt, follow the $$. Who draws more fans and ratings?

So, what happens with a PSU loss? Could we see an intriguing matchup with MSU in something like the Outback Bowl?

Loss and probably Outback or Citrus for us and NWvs Miss St Kentucky or even LSU Florida depending.

I think it hurts. I don't think WSU falls below us. Now there are 2 PAC-12 teams in the NY6, whereas, depending on their championship game, there would have been 1 if WSU won tonight. We need either Florida or LSU to lose, preferably both.

I don’t know where we go with a loss. Maybe vs Oregon in Holliday. I think NW gets Citruis. It be between us, Iowa, Wisky for outback. Sparty is prob going to Gator vs A&M if Aggies lose.

I don't see any way two Pac-12 teams get invites to NY6 bowls. The Pac 12 is universally perceived as the weakest conference in the country; their marquee schools, Stanford and USC, have had down years, so I would be shocked if WSU gets in over PSU, LSU or FL, and those would seem to be the schools they have to compete with for the invite. Someone please correct me but IIRC the rules for NY6 selection are written loosely enough that simply being in the top 12 does not guarantee an invite. I can envision a scenario where WSU could be top 12, even top 10, but get left out. As another poster mentioned, $ will play a role in this and no way an east coast bowl invites WSU.

The top 12 go unless someone lower secures an auto bid. Money doesn't matter at all.

Washington losing absolutely hurts us. They may drop a spot if at all. So now the Pac XII is going to get 2 bids when they were only getting 1 before. WVU beating Oklahoma helped us though

Playoff likely would be:
Bama vs Michigan
Clemson vs Notre Dame

At large bids go to:
Big XII Oklahoma (Sugar)
SEC Georgia (Sugar)
Big Ten Ohio State (Rose)
Pac XII Washington/Utah (Rose)
Group 5 UCF (Peach/Fiesta)

So that leaves 3 spots
Washington State is going to be ahead of us
LSU is getting one for sure unless they lose today
Florida is getting one unless the lose today

We appear to be the first team out even prior to upsets. We probably need to jump Florida which I guess is possible. If Northwestern, Pitt or Texas win their conference we have absolutely no shot

Remember that there's a very good chance Washington jumps us in the next rankings and the only team that could realistically fall behind us is Florida. A 3 loss LSU probably stays ahead of us. As does a 2 loss Ohio State

Can 4 teams from one conference go to the NY6? Not sure if they would take Florida over us since that would make 4 for the SEC and only 2 for the B1G

Yeah, 4 teams can go. Will they? We'll see but it does look like a Penn State-Florida battle for the last spot unless Pitt, Northwestern or Texas steal that last spot.

A 3 loss PAC 12 team (Washington) is not going to jump us. That conference sucks. Also, we now may jump Washington St. I would put a three loss Big Ten team right on par with a two loss PAC 12 team.

We can argue that if you want but it doesn't matter because either way Washington or Utah gets a spot over us. The only thing that matters is will Wazzu fall behind us which I don't think is even remotely possible.
