Check out this article about job security. It has merit.

Also, some thoughts:
1) I already said in a prior post that Shoop probably thinks the loss of Nassib, Johnson & Zettel may be too much to overcome next year. Shoop's future stock/market value will go down
2) If Franklin was willing to burn Donovan, then Shoop knows that he isn't bullet proof
3) Shoop obviously sees a better path to head coach which is his ultimate end game.
4) Shoop obviously is not concerned about the academic integrity of the football program he represents (See UT graduation rates).
5) Losing Donovan was seen as a plus by most fans and outsiders. Losing a very good defensive coordinator is definitely a negative kick in the balls.
6) IMO Shoop is "probably" smarter than Franklin. Have you ever been in a position where you know more than your boss, but get paid a lot less? It probably grates Shoop.
7) Last, but not least, have a little faith in Franklin. Shoop "may" be smarter, but what many seem to forget is that Franklin hired Shoop; not the other way around. There is no guarantee that Franklin will make another good hire as a defense coordinator, but has shown that he can make an excellent hire. That should count for something.
