Lost in the euphoria over Penn State's performance over the weekend was the poor performance by a couple of VT wrestlers. Zavatsky and Epperly combined for 3 points in the tournament. To me, this is totally shocking - a total headscratcher.

Yeah, VT's performance at Nationals surprised me as well. To the numbers:
Wrestler - Points scored (seed)
Joey Dance - 14.5 (seeded #2)
Ty Walz - 13.5 (seeded #3)
Jared Haught - 12.5 (seeded #4)
Solomon Chishko - 12 (seeded #6)
Sal Mastriana - 9 (seeded #14)
Zach Epperly - 2 (seeded #4)
Zach Zavatsky - 1 (seeded #5)
Iowa holding a grudge against VT after the offending parties have left ... where have we heard this before?
Noticed this too during the tournament. Turned to my Dad at some point and said 'where is VT'? Another example of how much the mental side of things plays into sports. Gotta be tough not only hearing your coach is leaving but for him to completely disappear before the biggest tournament of your life.
He is going to make Iowa State the best wrestling team in that State....He is on a mission !
Speaking of this situation.....has VaTech said anything further as to who they're talking to or would like to hire?
They have offered David Taylor and Kyle Dake as co-coaches at $300,000 a piece.

Why would they pay Kyle Dale that much? Never heard of him....
