Seemed happy enough a post to extract from dunke’s monster thread.
Yarigin???
Interesting that after the Rome event, no other tournament is listed by UWW as a Ranking Series event. Thought the Yariguin would be. Pretty sure the continental championships are.
The Olympics ARE the World Championship. Are they having World Championships this year for the non-Olympic weights? And if so, are guys that didn't make the Olympic team eligible to change weights and try to make the "non-Olympic weight" World Team?
Saw that. Thanks. Again, surprised that arguably the toughest tournament in the world isn’t a Ranking Series event. There's one in Warsaw in June. Plus the continentals. And the 2019 world championships.

I could be full of crap, but I believe they do have World Championships for the non Olympic weights. I also believe Logie Bear's world championship was won at a non Olympic Weight (61kg) in an Olympic year (2016).Saw that. Thanks. You are right, but I thought that I had read somewhere that they were not doing them this year.I could be full of crap, but I believe they do have World Championships for the non Olympic weights. Wonder if this would prevent it from being a ranking tournament:
“Under the ban, Russia’s flag, name and anthem would not be allowed at the Tokyo Games next summer or the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, though the competitive effects may be minimal: Russian athletes not implicated in doping are expected to be allowed to compete in the Olympics and other world championships, but only under a neutral flag.
The World Anti-Doping Agency also barred Russian sports and government officials from the Games and prohibited the country from hosting international events. The decision, which Russia has 21 days to appeal, most likely will set up a series of confrontations in the coming months and years as Russia fights to have its athletes and teams compete at major events.”

That's a rule so stupid that only UWW could dream it up.I believe for a ranking event it has to include all 3 styles, yariguin only contains FS and WFS. I think that changed after the first year of ranking events.
That's a rule so stupid that only UWW could dream it up.
Women's freestyle wrestlers can't be ranked unless the freestyle and Greco guys show up, and vice versa, because UWW.
Again: only UWW could add stupid to an existing rule.As per flo -

States in third paragraph that all three styles must be wrestled at ranking series, was changed for 2020
The Olympics ARE the World Championship.
Thanks. I'll assume you didn't understand my question. The Olympics are the world championships for 57, 65, 74, 86, 125.
They are not for 61, 79, 92.
But thanks anyway

See the first bullet under "World Events". I read that as no World Championships for 61, 70, 79, or 92kg this year.Thanks. I'll assume you didn't understand my question. The Olympics are the world championships for 57, 65, 74, 86, 125.
