Thanks Grucci. Not all the time but often during weekdays you have to take a ticket. Slows down leaving also
Yeah, FYI all, tonight they did not open the gates.often they open the gates at the end anyway so you get a break
>50 minutes from the time I got in my car until I got out of the garage. That's the first time I've used it when they didn't just open the gates. Asinine.Yeah, FYI all, tonight they did not open the gates.
That is a bummer. I would put my aggressive driving experience at 5 minutes max.>50 minutes from the time I got in my car until I got out of the garage. That's the first time I've used it when they didn't just open the gates. Asinine.
I read this thread during the match and didn’t get my ticket validated. Appears you could do it at the gate anyway. Why go through that for a no charge anyway? That is a bummer. I would put my aggressive driving experience at 5 minutes max.
They had guys at the gate telling those that didn’t validate the next time they would have to pay via CC at the exit. 12 dollars to pay if you didn’t validate, 1 dollar if you did. It wasn’t hard to validate. It was nice they had attendants there helping folks, I guess a little education is in process.I read this thread during the match and didn’t get my ticket validated. I'm still sore from the one match they ticketed people for backing into the parking spots. When it comes to parking and Penn State there is no such thing as a dumb question.
I believe that's only if you arrived more than one and a half hours before the match. They didn't tell me that, and I didn't validate. They had guys at the gate telling those that didn’t validate the next time they would have to pay via CC at the exit. 12 dollars to pay if you didn’t validate, 1 dollar if you did. That rule really makes no sense to me . I got a $40 ticket for doing that in the Eisenhower lot for a football game. What could possibly be the problem with backing in? I could've parked on the sidewalk next to a fire hydrant and the fine would've still been $40.I'm still sore from the one match they ticketed people for backing into the parking spots.

yeah I spent more time in the parking garage than I did driving home.Getting out of the NLI parking deck last night ranked in the top five all time Ficken worst parking experiences at a wrestling match.
When it comes to parking and Penn State there is no such thing as common sense.
Best kept secret navigating to big events. I always bike-snow permitting-to any UNI event, especially at the West Gym. Their parking lot is slow going.I bike there.
Yeah, I dropped my son off downtown early so he could go meet some friends for beers. Often times we do that. Really, another option I am considering is to start taking Uber for a drop off.Park downtown.
Have a pre-match beer.
Walk up to Rec Hall.
50 min logjams in parking garages is insane & will no longer be your problem.
I parked at the far end of the white course lot. I didn't think it was that bad to get out either time I went. The worst part was actually getting moving, but once I was on the road out it went fast.I quit parking in the deck several years ago. I park on a campus lot that allows parking after 5. It is about a 7 minute brisk walk to Rec Hall and then back afterwards.
I absolutely refuse to park in the White Course lot or the NLI parking garage.
Mr. Yoder,
Thank you for contacting us. Last year, we installed new gate and pay equipment at the Nittany, HUB and East parking decks on campus, and with that has come a change in our parking deck staffing and in some of the procedures employed at these facilities. One such change is no longer raising the exit lane gates following the conclusion of Rec Hall events. Like during all other weekday hours when the deck is in operation, drivers must take a ticket at entry and insert that ticket at a pay-on-foot station or one of the exit lane stations. However, there will still be no charge for Rec Hall event parking, provided that fans arrive no earlier than 1 1/2 hours before the event and stay no later than 1 1/2 hours after the event. If parked outside of these hours, the normal $1 per hour fee will be required for the additional time.
This change was made because several new features of our equipment require the gates to remain down to function properly, and because we have other non-event guests parking at the Nittany Deck who owe for parking for time parked prior to the wrestling matches. With the gates raised, those drivers also exit without paying for parking, which can create problems for us as many of them will expect future parking there to be free because of this experience.
Instructions regarding this process were shared by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics before the start of the season, as shown below:
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/psu/genrel/auto_pdf/2017-18/misc_non_event/rec-hall-event-parking.pdf
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused by this new process. This new process was employed during the women's volleyball season and once fans became accustomed to it, vehicles were able to exit the deck after matches without issue. If you have any other questions, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Jason Thomas

Hey! I still remember when the country gave dedicated parking spots for handicapped people. Regarding “dumb parking”, when did PSU add dedicated parking spots for dumb people? When it comes to parking and Penn State there is no such thing as a dumb question.
Well hell...that’s a thing? Where do I sign up for my mirror hanger?Hey! I still remember when the country gave dedicated parking spots for handicapped people. Regarding “dumb parking”, when did PSU add dedicated parking spots for dumb people?![]()
