Edsall's officially out *

Well, then, he must have really pissed Kevin Plank off.

Maryland's direction will be interesting going forward. They certainly have the ability to pay quite a bit for a high-quality coach with all that Under Armour money, and they're in as good a recruiting area as you'll get in this conference. I'd be interested to see whether they take a chance on a guy like Matt Rhule or Justin Fuente or whether they go with a guy like Al Golden who looks like he's on the way out at Miami.

Ok,I get the board reaction. I didn't care for Edsall before the handshake game and then even less, but there is a way to deal with a coaching change and then there is 'tone deaf". Maryland has always been tone deaf . I went to school there for 5 years and received two degrees but quite frankly never cared much for the institution. They just don't seem to "get it". The handling of Edsall's dismissal is just not right no matter what one thinks of the coach. Enough.

Rich donor's have way too much influence. If coach doesn't have five years (one entire recruiting cycle), then will be turning on their next coach too.

Donors....We don't have a clue cause Joe kept that door closed. Its coming, believe me. Mr. Under Armour wants his guy. You may not like Edsel, but it was inhumane to parade him before the media etc. the way they did, when the decision had already been made and leaked. Good to see the only asswipes in Adm. and BOT are not at PSU. This is not good news for PSU since major bucks will be spent and Mr. Under Armour wants Chip Kelly. So unlike Rutgers, they are not cash strapped.

They sure talked about money problems as the reason a charter member of the ACC left to go to the Big Ten

Mr. Under Armour just gave 25 million toward their athletic improvements and they anticipate a surplus of 90+ million from joining B10 v ACC revenues. Edsel only had 500k in guaranteed money from new contract, so they only had to buy out the remaining $ of this year. All I can say is, it would have been better for PSU if they retained Randy:cool:

Locksley isn't much better. Check his record with New Mexico (2-26). Hopefully that dumpster fire in College Park continues to smolder.
Forget Locksey's coaching record. He should be the target of a major NCAA investigation regarding recruiting infractions. Aurelius Benn went to Illinois because of Locksey's $$$$$$$. That was just the most obvious if his transgressions, but it's Illinois where corruptions is easily accepted.

Locksley is also known for strong recruiting skills. He was listed as a top-25 recruiter in the nation three different times (2003, 2005, 2006) and was a finalist for 2007 recruiter of the year by Rivals.com. He also engineered top-10 recruiting classes during each of his two seasons (2003-04) as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Florida.

In Locksley's first stint as an offensive coordinator he took over an Illinois offense which was ranked No. 86 nationally in total offense (338.1 yards per game) and gradually improved it to a top-20 unit.

The Illini went from No. 72 nationally in total offense (354.6 ypg) in 2005 to No. 19 (438.3 ypg) in 2008. They led the Big Ten in rushing in 2006 (188.8 ypg) and 2007 (256.7 ypg), and in passing (269.3 ypg) in 2008. The rushing attack was twice ranked in the top-10 nationally (No. 10 in 2006; No. 5 in 2007).

Under Locksley’s tutelage, quarterback Juice Williams passed for more than 6,000 yards and rushed for over 2,000 in his three years under Locksley and was a 2008 All-Big Ten choice. Williams set school records for rushing yards by a quarterback and single-season total offense. Williams led the Big Ten in passing (3,173 yards) and total offense (3,892 yards) in 2008 and was third in passing efficiency (136.15 rating).

Wide receiver Arrelious Benn was a first team all-conference pick as a sophomore in 2008 after leading the league in receiving yards (1,055). He went on to become a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2010 NFL Draft.
