Would never pay for the mag, but obviously other people have airline miles and got the mag for free. Hack states that he came here because of O'Brien and his pro-style offense. Says that a lot of college guys run the wildcat, etc, win Heisman and then evaporate in the NFL. It says when it comes to mainstays in the NFL, pro-style college guys are the guys that stick around. He says that he put a lot of thought into transfer and had 50+ other schools that wanted him, but stuck it out. The article also points to his stats, which were poor, but he is still top 5 in both mcshay and kiper's board. Kiper has him behind only Goff of Cal. It touches on him taking extra reps during his camps this summer, even when they broke for meals. Including extra practice with the Mannings. I like where his head it at, seems 100% more like a Manning, with a career in mind, than a manziel, with looking for the next score off the field.

Let's hope the OL can improve this year. It would be a shame For Hack to waste his talent all because of a very poor OL. I'm confident Franklin can run a offense that suits him.

Hack will rewrite the record books this year. Enjoy his last year before his NFL career. Hopefully the OL and offensive game plan are at the level State can challenge for the BIG East and F4 berth. Elite players at the most important position on the field make the difference!

I agree, and predict Hack will win some unexpected games for us, INCLUDING OSU!

I thought I read that he had 50+ offers to sign his LOI, not transfer. That part of the article was in reference to sticking to his verbal after the sanctions were handed down, no?

Sanctions were handed down after Hack committed in July 2011. He had all the way up to February 2012 to change his mind and didn't. I believe he could've left anytime through the summer 2012 also since any of our players could transfer without sitting a year. With all the negativity surrounding the program and plenty of options, he chose to stick with Penn State. Then with a coaching change, he stayed and after a tough soph year, he stayed and hasn't really wavered.

The quote in the article about the 44 sacks "not all being on him" one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Ya think?

I'd put it at 80% on the offensive line and tight ends (looking at you Jesse James, learn to block), 10% on frosh WRs inexperience on hot routes etc, 10% on Hack not being quick enough to get out of there and just run for 5 yards.

Anybody know what kind of offense CJF ran at Vandy? Hack is a strict NFL/Pro-style QB. I couldn't get a read on our offense last year, to be honest. Clearly Hack wasn't going to run, so no hybrid stuff was going to happen. And due to our pitiful o-line, we ran a TON of quick passing plays. We had a nice offense in the first and last games: UCF and BC.

What I am getting at is trying to understand if CJF is trying to accommodate Hack with a pocket throwing game, a bonafide NFL all-american QB, or if CJF's playbook was so limited due to such inexperience at the o-line and WR positions.
