Added to the roster.

Graduated in 2008. From Penn Manor. Junior Eligibility. Beat Zach Nye I think.

Welcome aboard!

Interesting. I believe he wrestled mostly 215, and a little at 189, during his senior season at Penn Manor. He lost in the Dist. 3 consolation finals at 215, 3-2, and as such just missed going to States.

I'm curious how he still has eligibility. I thought he was on the roster for Pitt-Johnstown for the 2008-09 season. Perhaps he planned to enroll, and never did. I really don't know.

Dunke or others may know more, but I thought he was an assistant coach for Penn Manor last year.

Oh well, an unexpected addition to the team. Pure speculation on my part, but based on his high school weight from 8 years ago it seems he's a heavy.

PSU lists him as a JR. Weird to think someone who graduated HS the same year as Quentin Wright still has 2 years left.

Or, to put another way: someone who graduated HS when Nico Megaludis was in 9th grade ...

It's true -- Wissler actually pinned Nye that year. Nye was a freshman and had a good year but did not qualify for states. Nye dropped to 171, where some Ed Ruth guy was in his regional. Good luck with that.

As Tom noted, Wissler also did not qualify for states -- he went 215, and lost to the eventual state champ (Enck) at regionals. Had he qualified, his first match in Hershey would've been against Canon McMillan soph Mike Hull, who also turned out OK for Penn State.

No idea how he could be a junior, but happy to see another body for the upper weights, we need a bit more depth.

The most logical explanation would that he spent time in the military. Whatever the reason we welcome to hHappy Valley!
