I live in Pittsburgh, and from time to time listen to a local radio sports talk show called "The FAN" when I am driving. There has been a lot of chatter by the show's hosts in recent weeks about ongoing discussions between Penn State and Pitt over extending the football series beyond the two remaining scheduled games. They even quote the Pitt AD and I think the Pitt President on their desire to extend the series and that talks are ongoing. Pitt's leadership has said, however, that they would not even consider a three-game extension with 2 games at Penn State and one in the 'Burgh. I hope we find highly visible programs to take the place of Pitt on our OOC schedule, like Texas, Miami, 'Bama, Georgia, etc. I think it is short-sighted of Pitt not to agree to a 3-game extension with just one game in Pittsburgh because games at Penn State generate more revenue than those in Pittsburgh, but having Penn State as a home game apparently is the most effective way for Pitt to sell season tickets, which they have otherwise had dismal success at. If anyone is getting a clearer picture of these extension talks from Penn State sources, please share those, as clearly Pitt's administration and the local coverage here had a Pitt spin on it..
