our FF draft is in 3 weeks. hard to believe. Reviewing my draft strategy, I started looking at former PSU players I could feasibly draft.

(2 keeper league, I am keeping Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey. I draft 9th in a snake draft)

Saquon Barkley - granted, he is a long shot, but I get the feeling other teams will be focused on the big money WRs

Allen Robinson - lot of upside to him on the Bears if he stays healthy

Chris Godwin - vastly underrated and undervalued in a lot of drafts. He's a starter who will benefit from Mike Evans pulling to quality defenders

Mike Gesicki - great grab as a #2 TE for any league. Dolphins expect a lot from him

Jesse James - should see a lot of improvement from him this year

Sam Ficken - Zuerlein is coming off back surgery. LA retained Ficken just in case

Robbie Gould - is he still in the league? LOL

All depends on league scoring, in my league RB's need to go first round because passing TD's are not valued the same as rushing.

Your top 4 listed will all be in play, James wont get many balls in Pgh with Vance MacDonald there. Saquan is a top 15 pick no matter the scoring, probably top 10. 1200 yards, 50 catches and 10 TD's. Still leary of ARob of injury and playing for the Bears but he is easily their #1 so he should get 6+ targets a game. 4-6th round guy. Gesicki is a red zone guy for sure but hes at best a high TE2, I wouldn't draft him personally unless you play 2TE or multiple flex. Godwin will have 60+ catches, but Evans and their two TE's both take red zone targets so hes 10th round+.

What is your points format? You already have two great running backs, so Barkley might be a little redundant, but you could always draft him and trade McCaffrey for a good receiver if you have the chance. I expect Robinson and Godwin to have solid seasons, people forget that ARob was a first round fantasy talent a couple years ago before the injury. I’d stay away from Gould/Ficken, better options are out there

Best to leave emotions out of it if this is a money league. I am Giants fan and Saquon fan and praying he is there in 2nd round. My concern is the God level expectations. NFL is a much faster game and players are superior tacklers. The Giants OL needs to improve greatly. Would you seriously take SB over Gurley? Godwin is a great value pick but late rounds. Trubisky was not asked to throw much so not sure on Arobs production. Gesicki is not even starting. Yes, he will play but it might be mid season breakout. Would hold off drafting him as no one outside PSU fans would have him on radar.

I’m picking seventh in my league this weekend. I fully expect to take SB with my first round pick. I don’t think anyone above me will take a rookie RB so high.

You can get Godwin later (probably 10th round) and he will become the number two by mid season, if he hasn’t already. Take MG with a very late pick - 14th or 15th round. He should still be there, unless there are a bunch of Penn State fans in your league.

While I agree (obviously), the NFL is a faster league, there are many teams that do not have a guy in their secondary who can catch up to Barkley if he gets in the open. He will have many long runs this year.

I’m also hoping to get SB. I pick 3rd in a 10 team league. Kamara, Zeke, Fournette, Gordon, Johnson and Bell already off the board as keepers. Thinking the draft goes 1. Gurley 2. Antonio Brown 3. My pick. If #2 picks SB, I’ll take Antonio and hope Ben can remain upright all season.

I'd stay away from Gesicki--reports out of Miami are less than glowing (actually, double checked that--week 2 was better for him--week one they were already calling him a bust--truth probably lies somewhere in the middle)
Godwin being named a starter is going to skyrocket his value
No chance you get Barkley in a keeper at 9 :)

Here's a Gesicki quote by their OC
"Everything in this league is earned," Dolphins offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said. "You’ve got to earn it. You’ve got to go out there and do it. Coach [Adam] Gase is a believer in working. You guys know him. He’s a grinder. He came up a unique, hard, long way and he believes that everyone should go that route."

Loggains continued: ". Mike is a little bit unique. Durham [Smythe, the Dolphins' other rookie tight end] is a ‘Y’ and Mike G is more of a … We’ve got to find out exactly what he can and can’t do and what he can and can’t handle early. As the season goes and the offseason goes and training camp, his package will expand and his routes will expand as we found out what he can and can’t do."

I feel like Miami's realizing he's not truly a TE

Barkley's going about 5-7 on average. He's in the mix with Zeke Elliot and Alvin Kamara. Barkley's highly rated in PPR. But, no, Gurley & Bell are definitely ahead of him. Johnson too.

Crazy not to go with Kamara. He has top caliber QB and his receiving out of backfield is insane. He is 15 points solid with 20 - 30 points possible with a TD or two.

I love Saquon and truly believe he will be premier back by mid season. I just worry that Giants OL and Manning might not be up to snuff first few games. If they can center on SB then it will be a slog. You have to start hot (or at least remain in top mix) in fantasy to have a shot for playoffs. That is my league anyway. Too little, too late is something I see often. The guy with the best team by week 8 sometimes does not even make playoffs because of rough start.

Kamara/Barkley is hard for me because I think Barkley will be similar. Though Kamara (especially with Ingram out) is more of a sure thing.

PPR, 6 pts for Rushing or passing TD
