I saw a kid named Kal-El is wrestling. How long until there is a Star Lord or Groot?
Connor Mirasola with a 10-0 tech in 3:35. Will wrestle Novak in the semis. Novak is a Wyoming recruit out of MN.
Cole Mirasola with a good win against Cobe Merrill 8-4. Was down 4-0 and scored 8 straight. Cobe Merrill is a super tough CA kid. His brother Cody is a bigger recruit though and he made the semis. If they both win tomorrow in the semis we will get a Mirasola vs Merrill battle in the finals. Cody Merrill was a top 3 recruit but got injured and didn’t compete at the high school level this past season.

Dalton Perry with a tech in the quarterfinals. Will see Kale Peterson in the semis. Peterson is an Iowa kid and an Iowa recruit.
that should be a good one. peterson came out of nowhere with a monster us open but then went 0-2 at trials. remains to be seen how good he really is at this point. wasn’t in willies top 200.
Perry is the most patient Junior I’ve seen in a while. Lets people make a mistake with a bad shot and then kills them with a counter or re-shot. Doesn’t take bad shots.

He had a massive US Open. Pinned Nasir Bailey in the semis while leading 10-1 and only lost to Bouzakis 11-8 in the finals. If he’s on he is probably the favorite but like you said, you don’t always get that version of him

Cool Fargo story: In the U16 145lb bracket, Brady Collins (Clearfield / M2) lost his first match but has since rattled off 7 straight wins. A few more victories and he'll be a very unlikely Fargo placewinner.
He's a really good kid, and had to set up a charity car wash event just so he could afford to make the trip.

It really was. Everyone should watch it. I wasn’t aware of Jay Henderson but he is very good. Won 16U freestyle here last year. You have to love both these Mirasola boys. They just keep coming at you. Cole has a super tough matchup with Merrill next who has been blowing everyone away. I would have to say Merrill is the favorite as of now. The winner will most likely get a golden ticket to WNO.
If Connor wins which he should he will also get a golden ticket. He’s ranked number 1 at 195 and has teched everyone so far this tournament. Kid seems to have reached a new level this summer

What happened in the semi with Mickel and Conroy? I read in the USA Wrestling article that it ended up in a DQ win for Conroy
AWA is absolutely killing it at Fargo. I’m pretty sure the Asken boys have 5 in the finals on just the junior side! That is super impressive. The kids are Haakon Peterson, Braeden Scoles, Noah Mulvaney, Connor Mirasola, and Cole Mirasola. I’m not the biggest Ben Askren fan but him and his brother sure have become great coaches
I wondered the same. No footage of the match so I thought maybe Mickel didn’t make weight? Only thing I could think of. Hopefully someone who is there can fill us in
Is Haakon Peterson at AWA now? He's always commuted to Sebolt. Either way, it's without question one of the premier clubs in the country.
You might be right. I thought I heard Ben talking about him being at AWA now on FRL but I absolutely could be wrong. I just listened to todays FRL and Ben made it sound like he’s an AWA kid now but he could have just been talking about all the kids from Wisconsin that were doing well. Wasn’t super clear

Won Fargo last year at 195 and just repeated this year at 220 but did not wrestle the high school season. Merrill will be competing at WNO with this win the announcers said.

He’s wrestling 220 as a 16U. Pretty sure he will be a heavy before he’s done. Huge frame with the ability to add a lot of good weight it looks like. His finals match was awesome. 2 huge throws and a beautiful ankle pick to win by tech in under a minute
Don’t forget to check out the team scores for Junior and 16U. PA resumed its proper and rightful position by winning both age groups.

Merrill is a monster that has really flown under the radar. Everything he did in that final was so efficient and clean. Great feet.
Also wild to watch Connor in the finals and remember that dude wrestled Gabe Arnold this year lol. Hilarious size difference.
I would love to see a picture of those 2 standing next to each right now. Would be pretty funny.
Do you think Connor has jumped a level this summer? He had a really good US open splitting matches with Clayton Whiting, and beating Evan Bates, and Tate Naaktgeboren. He had an even better world team trials where he teched Whiting and beat McEnelly 10-3 who was ranked number 1 at the time. His only loss was to Brayden Thompson. Fargo definitely didn’t have the same level of competition as those 2 events but he absolutely blitzed everyone these past few days. Teched everyone without giving up a single point! It seems like he is improving every time out. I’m interested to see who he wrestles at WNO. The highest ranked guy after him is Aeoden Sinclair but they are teammates so not sure if that happens. The next guy up and the match I REALLY hope happens is Jude Correa. That would be fire!
