FC: $3.55 million gift for lacrosse. Impact?

Absolutely. We have already been recruiting very well against them. Tambroni has this team on the doorstep of being one of the 5 elites in lax. Facilities definitely hold us back in terms of the most elite recruits, as does the lack of attendance at games. Part of that is the lack of lacrosse anywhere between State College and Pittsburgh. The facilities will definitely help. It is safe to say that Penn State lax in top 10 is here to stay. Big 10 has surpassed ACC as top lax conference and the Big 4 (Md Hopkins PSU OSU) should all make the NCAA. Hell Rutgers should also make it but won't.

Penn State having a real facility could put us over the top for sure.

Thanks. That's the answer I was hoping for. :) I asked the question not knowing about the facilities at other top programs.

Do you realize how many scones this could buy for the next bot meeting? I'm not talking about the Weiss store brand ones either, but the really good stuff.

It will be nice but it is more for the fans then the team. Getting the center for excellence would be a much bigger impact. That will house the facilities the team using on a daily basis. It will have new locker rooms, training facility, medical facility, nutritional facility, and indoor field.

Well, good news and certainly the B1G is very good in lacrosse. But, surpassed the ACC? -- 7 of the last 9 lacrosse national champions have been ACC schools.

That's true but there wasn't a Big 10 until very recently. Look at the lax RPI this year: 4 of the top 7 are Big 10 teams. And Rutgers is 12 and bottom feeder in Big 10 Michigan is 20. Obviously ACC is very good as well at the top. UVA is trending down. So is NC, while all Big 10 teams are trending up.

Maybe I should have clarified that Big 10 has the deepest quality.

It would be interesting to have a Big Ten vs ACC challenge at the beginning of the year in Lax like they do in BBall.

There is decent lacrosse in York area, because of the influence from Baltimore. It's a long way to go to watch a game, but maybe they could cultivate relationships with local clubs and HS teams.
