A-10 Warthog aka Tank Killer
My fondest memory of the A-10 was back in 1989. I was at Basic Training on Ft Sill in OK and the Field Artillery put on a show in the North Range. They had some old tanks out in the range and some other targets, they shot some howitzers and blew some stuff up. Then we heard this low rumbling noise that just kept intensifying... then all of a sudden some air-to-surface missiles come screaming overhead followed by two A-10s with guns blazing. Took out 4 tanks and left 4 nice craters in the ground.

I think I heard the Air Force has been trying to get rid of the A 10 for like 20 years but can't find anything that can do its job as well. Looks like the Govt really got it money worth with this one. Its over 40 years old and originally built by a company, Fairchild Republic that has been out of business since 2003.
