FC: Devon Willock decommits

Word is this was not forced by staff - may have a more recent offer from a favorite. Was looking at Georgia prior to PSU...

I would be shocked if he truly has a comittable offer to Georgia. If you look at the OL Georgia brought in the last 2-3 years, plus the OL they are targeting and signing this class and the '21 class, I just do not see Georgia taking a low 3*. Who knows. Maybe they see a total diamond in the rough????? But Georgia's recruitment of OL the last few years has probably been the best in the country.

"Recruiting mistakes" are the only positive thing about the transfer portal. Used to be a program was "stuck" with a recruiting mistake for all 4 years. Now, a "recruiting mistake" realizes that he is not going to see the field and transfers to another school.

Processing is much more effective.

Anyone remover firmer Duke BB insure Brian Zoubek? He was a 7’1” kid who’se only skill set was that he was a 7’1” kid.

He had no feet. Meaning that he really didn’t have a tremendous amount if athletic skill. Coach K brought him to Duke thinking he could get him to be serviceable which he was. But he never really developed athletically.

Willock is the football version of Zoubek .
He might be a project but I wish him the best. I just hate to see fans love him when we get him then say he was no good when we lose him.

I remember Brian. He was from Haddonfield, NJ IIRC. His father was a Deputy Attorney General in NJ.

Are you crazy? Zoubeck may never have been a stud, but he was essential to Duke’s 2010 national championship with his consistency and solid play. And yes, I’m totally serious.

Did you read my post? I said he was a serviceable player.

By the way, last I heard he owns a successful bakery in the Haddonfield, NJ area.

Never saw Jenkins play. Saw Zoubek and Willock (briefly)

He seems like a nice young man and represented PSU well. Unfortunately, based on his potential and size, he was highly ranked, but had very average junior and senior seasons, and looked like a human turnstile in camps before his senior year.

Is it just me or does anyone else desire to sit back and read an Art vs. Lion8286 cyber intelligence match?
Don't really notice anything much about Art, however, I have noticed that about 99.99% of posts by the 8286 man, women or child, are merely criticisms of posts/posters, as opposed to the actually subject matter! In fact, I believe I posted that "it" must want to be a monitor!

Closed the bakery about 5-6 years ago. Heard it was pretty good.

I try never to criticize a kid, whether playing for us, a decommitment, or a kid who chooses another school instead of us. That being said, he looked very much like a project, much more so than the other O-linemen. We have a couple of other commits who I have my doubts about based on their video highlights, which is the basis for my assessment of Willock. Nonetheless, I wish him well and a full recovery from his surgically repaired wheel.

Whatever, snowflake. I've said that he's not a good OL Prospect. Doesn't mean that he's not a good person or that he won't develop into a good football player.
Yet you trash him because you are a punk. F you, asshole.

I said he wasn't a good football player and I'll stand by that, call me what you like.

And here I thought you put me on ignore. Couldn't resist, could you, Mr. Bigstuff?

I took you off ignore last week, just to see if you were still an insufferable asshole - and you didn't disappoint.

Always aim to please, especially for shitheads like you. So when do I go back on ignore, or do you miss the stimulation?

Wether Devon is a great kid and helps his mom with the dishes every night is immaterial. And I’m not saying he isn’t or he doesn’t. But apparently Franklin is in a bit of a numbers crunch regarding scholarships. This kid was our lowest rated recruit and evidently a project. The nostalgic among us must face the fact that modern college football is a huge financial enterprise with little room for sentiment. If that is in fact what happened. If not then ones guess is as good as another’s.

how do we know PSU/CJF did anything? He may have said, 'I will honor your scholarship, but you have to delay your enrollment until 1/21. This way it gives you more rehab time without your clock running, you can get a spring practice under your belt' etc etc. And the kid said no.

Wait a minute there, I’ll never whine if Bama does it. They never act like sanctimonious hypocrites regarding this aspect of the game. I will however jab Michigan if they do it without losing a minute of sleep.

I personally approve of jabbing Meatchicken over anything -or nothing, for that matter

Channeling Wolvie “ Oh Jim and Tariq decided this when Jim recruited him a few years ago. Jim feels that the more players that he can develop into super stars ( as all Wolverines are ) and then have them transfer to other programs the better it is for college football. Jim is always thinking of helpful ways to assist other programs “.

It was. But I hear he reopened with some new partners. Not sure of location or name though.

We met Brian and his mother once at Please Touch opening of their new facility. Very nice young man. His mother was a nice woman as well.

I just googled him ... saw a 2018 article saying post Cream Puffs he went into real estate and now has his own development firm in the Phila area.

No offense to young Mr. Willock, but does he seriously believe he will be anything other than scout team material at UGA? Their other 2020 OL commits:
#2 Overall OT, #19 Overall Player
#3 Overall OT, #36 Overall Player
#3 Overall OC, #111 Overall Player
#17 Overall OT, #168 Overall Player

Gotta give this young man kudos for his desire to compete with the best.
