FC: ESPN takes on Penn State once again

Since you're an engineer I'll explain it to you slowly, you guys need directions to make toast. You know, first plug in the toaster. Then take the bread out of the bag...
I'm friends with a detective on the case. He is certain of their actions . And he knows more than any of these others making silly claims such as Snedden. Who never interviewed certain people and who did not have access to all the state's materials .
He wrote an op Ed essentially, low on facts high on speculation. It's laughable that people like you buy into it.

Engineers designed and built the toaster. The instructions are for dummies....like the ones that still believe there was a cover-up in the PSU situation despite all of the evidence (or lack thereof) and trials that resulted in all conspiracy charges being dropped.

I'm friends with several people involved with the case, as well...and they know more than your friend.

You choose to believe the prosecutors and investigators, most of who were all sanctioned following the events of this case for various wrongdoings, including losing their law licenses.
One did but none of the others who prosecuted CSS and Sandusky.
I will choose to believe Joe, Gary, Tim, and Graham, all people with impeccable reputations as men with life long histories of doing the right thing. I think I like my chances of being right.
You would be wrong. Even Gary admits some remorse. Unlike the slime Spanier. Do you think Sandusky is innocent?

Constitutionally, they are. And in our legal system, it's (unlike, for example, the French) innocent until proven guilty. Not proven guilty--by our legal standards-- is "innocent".

But that's the way it used to be. These days folks act as it you are guilty once any accusation is made and want to skip over the trial and go right to sentencing.

And I am speaking generally here and not about this case in specific.
By that logic then CSS are guilty right?

The Paterno 3 did indeed coverup for Sandusky.

A coverup is not a crime, in and of itself. The jury found there was not a conspiracy. A coverup and a conspiracy are two different things.

§ 903. Criminal conspiracy.

(a) Definition of conspiracy.--A person is guilty of conspiracy with another person or persons to commit a crime if with the intent of promoting or facilitating its commission he:

(1) agrees with such other person or persons that they or one or more of them will engage in conduct which constitutes such crime or an attempt or solicitation to commit such crime; or

(2) agrees to aid such other person or persons in the planning or commission of such crime or of an attempt or solicitation to commit such crime."

Coverup, which is not a legal term, is:

"1. an attempt to prevent people's discovering the truth about a serious mistake or crime."

Spanier, not telling the BOT fully about the 2001 incident, covered up the Paterno 3 lack of action regarding Sandusky. It was not a crime to do so.
I'm friends with several people involved with the case, as well...and they know more than your friend.
Do they agree with the conspiracies put out on this board?

Thank you for recognizing the difference and distinction between what is a factual piece of data, and what is an opinion (or a decision to use your words).
It's a verdict and not a mere opinion that you portray it to be. You know that fingerprints are analyzed by technicians? Opinion.
There still is no factual data that Sandusky abused any child.
It is a fact that a jury 'decided' that they believed the accusers stories (as outlandish and absurd as many seem to be). That is an opinion.
Testimony and in one case a third party eye witness is factual proof and not mere opinion. You are wrong but I've told you that before.

Investigative journalist Ralph Cipriano of bigtrial blog has another excellent blog post on how John Barr and ESPN blew it big time and completely missed the part in their E60 "documentary" on Joe Paterno. Imho Ralph has been the journalist who has done the best job in unraveling the fiasco including over 60 comprehensive, hard hitting articles on the Penn State Sex Abuse Scandal that describe the shenanigans that have occurred and those responsible for this travesty of justice.

I finally got to watch the ESPN story on Sandusky. I felt two emotions. Sadness and white hot anger. Sadness at how many people's lives were ruined by a monster pedophile and seeing a good school get it's name dragged through the mud. While those victims received some money I would not trade places with them for all the money in the world. And then Paterno. A man who was a great coach and who I too believed always did it right (or tried too) tarnished by his moral failure. Legacy? Here's this: "Whether fair or not, you are often remembered by the last bad thing you did." Forever tarnished. The only admin I felt sorry for a bit was Schultz who admitted to remorse. Spanier, a total and complete slime made me want to jump at the screen. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing his ankle bracelet and cheered his comeuppance. At last in a big time scandal the big kahuna gets justice. Finally, after watching Aaron Fisher I renewed my hatred for JoeBots. especially the ones who maintain Sandusky's innocence. What a twisted sick group of imbeciles! I'll oppose them as long as needed to beat down their insane narrative.

PS Edit: Ralph Cipriano is a disgusting, sick, twisted POS hack who has zero credibility.

Thank you for proving my point. At no time did anyone say "We need to keep this quiet in order to prevent people's discovering the truth about a serious mistake or crime."

You also left out Mike McQueary, his dad and mom, his dad's friend, Jack Raykovitz and everyone else at Second Mile, to name a few.

Let me know if you and 'bourbon' need help making toast.

I guess bourbon is right. You engineer types are slow.

As I've told your fellow JoeBots, coverups don't follow a template. CSS did not conspire to endanger children (which was the charge) they conspired to coverup the incident to protect the image of PSU. The jurors DID believe that but they followed the law. I know that is hard to understand for an engineer but work with me and I'll help you out some more.

Who did not know what CSS did or Joe for that matter. Curley exonerated Raykovitz.
Let me know if you and 'bourbon' need help making toast.
Well, since you can't make it then I guess we won't ask.

You DumbBots just don't get it, even though I am using the very definition that you provided. At no time did anyone say "We need to keep this quiet in order to prevent people's discovering the truth about a serious mistake or crime."

No one said that, and no one claimed that anyone said that, therefore, the only reasonable conclusion is that there was no cover-up. That much is easy to understand.

he's a fan of racist coaches from Alabama that wear hound tooth hats. Go figure.
Understandable that you would sympathize with someone that spouts lies as if they are fact. You still can't show any proof but continue to double down on your stupidity. You and he are cut from the same diseased tumor.

It is well documented the racist policies of the U of AL which Bear did nothing about. he clearly knew about it. didn't report it. lIved by it. Did nothing. ...that is his legacy. you know about it too. You just refuse to see or admit it.

Bryant successfully integrated the Alabama football team. That bastion of segregation that was U of A. I'd say that is a bit more than doing nothing. Weird behavior for a racist to push for integration.

Just because Paterno's legacy is crap is no reason to lie about the accomplishments of those coaches that retired with honor. But you go right on doubling down on your ignorance.

LOL...He did so after he got his ass beat and that is the ONLY reason why.

He saw it, recognized it and did nothing about it until he had to just to win football games. Some legacy.

LOL is right, you really have no idea what you are talking about.

That legacy is miles above the steaming dung pile that is associated with the name Paterno. I haven't noticed anyone removing statues or names with Bryant. Or other coaches that retired with honor.

It was a waste of 5-6 months of work imo. Didn't present anything we didn't know already. There remain a lot of unanswered questions and it doesn't look like they were interested in trying to raise or answer any of them. As a result, I'm not sure what the purpose was.

just depends on what you want to believe. Bear got his ass smacked by a black USC and finally decided to play black player and was granted a pass by the media. Paterno did exactly as the NCAA said to do, in fact more, when an assault was reported and get excoriated for it.

Bear was a racist or, at the very least, supported racism for years until he could no longer resist it. I'd say Paterno's record of following the rules and taking care of students far surpasses Bears "racist till you can't be racist any longer" record.

You have no rebuttal, just insults.
Plenty of rebuttal but you won't listen to it. Listen to what I posted about Barr and his discussion of the lunacy of Jerry's claim of innocence.
The true story is too much for you to handle.
You mean the true story is too much for YOU to handle. Pick another god to worship.
I feel no need to respond to your drivel going forward.
I accept your surrender
I don't have the persistence that @PSU2UNC has.
Translation: @PSU2UNC is more mentally ill than @francofan is.

Nice alternate universe you've developed there. Still doesn't do a damn thing to change the stench of Paterno's legacy.

Where did I say I was a fan of Bear Bryant. He never lost to Joe BTW and wasn't fired for lack of leadership like Joe.
he was a racist....for some reason, you defend him yet you attack Joe even though he did exactly as the NCAA rules said to do...this for a guy what wasn't even an employee of his. But keep defending the racist coach. If that is the kind of thing that floats your boat and all

Bear was a racist...grew up as one and ran his program as one until he got his ass beat by a predominantly black USC team then changed out of necessity. I can't help it if you fail to see the facts and that Joe did exactly as the NCAA said he should have. Keep defending the racists! You're doing just great at that!

he was a racist....
So was George Washington So?
for some reason, you defend him
I don't defend him just say he didn't enable a pedophile
yet you attack Joe even though he did exactly as the NCAA rules said to do.
FALSE! Joe did not follow NCAA guidelines and neither did CSS! Joe participated in the decision NOT to report Sandusky!

While you keep defending a pedophile enabler.

hey, you come over hear attacking Joe when you know that Joe followed the rules...those are the facts. Then you defend a guy that was and practices racism.

I can't help the fact that you are racist and your coaches were too.

You've yet to provide a single bit of proof that Bryant was racist. I have no doubt you believe it but I don't think you can show that the man exhibited any signs of racism.

I also think from your comments you like to throw that term around a lot without any proof. Particularly if the target is someone you don't really like. Did you do this before the scandal or was this damage done as a result?

I don't have to...you championed that. You don't have any proof that Joe covered up for a pedo. But look at you!!!

You know what this makes you? A hypocrite. You defend a racist with ample evidence/proof he wouldn't recruit black players (he actually said that himself) then hammer Joe when he did exactly what the NCAA said to do!

Hypocrite. I set up the trap and you two fell right in. Congrats

Don't defend him

There's no racism where you are? LOL
I am not throwing stones, you are. For some reason, you want to hammer Joe but not Bear, Schembechler, Woody, etc. I get it. You, apparently, do not. So you have your prejudices and throw your uneducated opinion around not only without proof, but without regard to the laws and NCAA rules. Joe did exactly what he should have done even by 2022 standards, Bear? Hell, his record doesn't even stack up to Joe's standards from the 1970s relative to racism.

But you be you, brother. It is amusing.

Keep going! It is entertaining.

You attack joe without proof (in fact, just the opposite when you consider what the NCAA would have a coach do in the same situation) yet defend Bear and the NCAA for decades of racism. Congrats. Your hypocrisy has been exposed for the entire board to read.

Agreed but here is the bottom line on Paterno. He was reported a potential assault by a former employee and head of one of the largest charities in the region the day after it occurred. He did exactly as the book stated at that time, as it still says today after the NCAA completed a multi-year study: Report it to your boss and someone outside of the sports reporting verticle and let the experts handle it.

Curley and Schultz underperformed. It can also be said that Spanier did as well. But that has nothing to do with Paterno. Anything other than that is complete speculation
