FC: Facilities for Golf plans

Great news - I always felt that the golf courses were, as a whole, not reaching their fullest potential in terms of upkeep and marketing, particularly with the White Course's history. I understand the logistics as to why they changed Park's layout in the 1990s and lengthened the Blue Course, but the sports history lover in me is pleased that they're going to try and restore the historic layout.

Are the courses owned by the university or the athletic department?

Unless there is a true commitment to an increased O&M budget no changes to the golf course will matter. Penn State should be truly ashamed of the overall condition of the 36 holes they currently have.

All that said, while the layout of the Blue Course isn't all that interesting it has the necessary length for championship play (par 70 at 7219). If they would build championship caliber green complexes it would be acceptable.

I haven't played there in over 20 years, but didn't they build a new clubhouse a few years ago? Is it not up to par ?

Not a new club house, but a team club house / locker room.

I believe they are talking about the Walker Club House (golf shop and concessions). Pretty poor food service options, but now they can serve beer so I am sure they are looking at expanding.

Pretty sure it's the Walker clubhouse that Phil Esten is talking about replacing, but upgrades to the golf complex are not in this first five-year cycle of the masterplan.
