Nigel Hayes is known as being the "funny guy" on the team. Once he and his teammates figured out exactly what the role of the stenographer was during press conferences, he decided to have some fun with them in succeeding PCs by throwing in unusual words. Thus the word "syzygy" before his gaffe.
