And regular guitar? I mean, we've all seen that clip of Prince tearing it up on a six string at George Harrison's RRHOF induction, and I stumble across this clip of him playing bass while looking for other vids. What say you? Is this kind of acumen common?

I don't think much about him was common. Legit musical genius if you ask me. He could play 27+ instruments and usually played all the instruments on his albums. Supposedly self taught for all of them as well.

Wow, wasn't really aware. I mean, I played the hell out of my Purple Rain cassette when I was younger but was a bigger Michael Jackson fan (sort of seemed that at the time, you had to pick one over the other). As I got older, my appreciation for Prince grew but I never realized just how good (great?) he was at just about everything.

Yeah, he was an unreal musician. That's why he always had smoking hot chicks backing him up. He wrote and performed whatever was needed.

Kevin Smith's story about directing a movie for him was eye opening. There's was a lot to him as a person. Great high school basketball player too.

There is video out there of Chapelle and Charlie Murphy talking about his basketball skills. I guess he showed up one time and schooled some dudes. lol

I'm an ace of base. Or an ace of bass. Or is it an ass of bass?

Prince was brilliant. How is he not with us? Unreal and so sad.

It's a sketch, top 5 all time IMO. The high school basketball reference was something I heard on ESPN shortly after he passed.

Iink to the sketch (can't embed) NSFW language

That skit is one of my all time favorites. It was rooted in reality though at least to some extent. I was talking about some regular interviews those guys did after he died. It's actually pretty common with musicians and comedians that tour. One of the things they always have access to is the BB court and it's also cut off from the public so a lot of them play on the reg. I know Garth brooks would play like it was a damn part time job when he was on tour. He actually brought people with him on tour specifically so he could play 5 on 5 every day.... like roadies that their only duty was to make up his teams.

I saw Prince live ... four times (I think -- maybe five) ... most recently at a small venue in Denver (Ogden Theater). Jaw-dropping amazing every time. Literally jaw dropping skills. This vid you posted here -- It was like that all the time.
