Sorry if covered previously, but this is some pretty spectacular reading. That place must have been a total sh*tshow. Link below is to an article written about everything that went on and what finally pushed Andersen over the top. Lots of informative (and depressing) texts too. Crazy this guy left about $12mm on the table by quitting.

Wow. I heard things were bad but I thought there was some hidden reason that he left that money on the table. Got to respect him.

Beavers are looking good right now vs Stanford.

He bolted Wisconsin too right? Something about complaining that they wouldn't accept marginal students? Guy seems to have some issues but walks the walk when it comes to money I guess.

Oregon State 14 Stanford 9 after three quarters.

Stanford’s good running back not playing tonight.

The Beaver sound they play over the P A system sounds like.....well, I’ve never heard anything like it in my life!

Being an Oregon State fan is a lot like being a Cal fan. You hope to win but expect to lose. Forever. Cal has not been to the Rose Bowl since 1959. Oregon State has not been to the Rose Bowl since 1965.

It is not surprising that Penn State alums and fans find it hard to understand this situation, because they are utterly unaccustomed to losing. Yeah, PSU has had a few down years, but not DECADES of losing seasons. I think it just wore Gary Anderson down not being able to field a competitive team. He bit off more than he could chew in going to Corvallis.

My uncle is a Cal grad and when he was a freshman in 1959 he was also the equipment manager for the football team. He always talks about how much fun it was to go to the Rose Bowl. At the time he thought this was normal and looked forward to returning the next year and many years in the future. We know how that worked out but at least he saw one. I have another friend who graduated in the early eighties and has been a season ticket holder ever since. His dream is to go to Pasadena and watch Cal play in one Rose Bowl before he dies! Not sure if he going to make it.

Mile High: I was at that last Cal Rose Bowl Game in 1959. I was 23 months old at the time. (My parents were both Iowa grads, and Iowa played Cal in that Rose Bowl. Iowa won.) Call will never get back there, in my opinion. But Penn State will, and I plan to go on each occasion!

Guy sounds more than a little "unhinged" and pretty whiny if you ask me.
Cripes could you imagine what would have happened if he was our coach after Joe or BOB? (i thought he might have been on the short list).
Do have to laugh at the "self promoting" line after playing Minny. (I'm not a fan of the row, row your boat guy, all flash and very little substance.)
Its probably best if Anderson just "retire".

Blaming everyone around you and managing (coaching) with visible frustration are serious leadership flaws. I certainly wouldn’t hire him after reading that.

I think that's the consensus too - especially since those were texts to a journalist. At least with BOB and Dave Jones, OB kept things limited to a phone call (and of course, never denied what DJ wrote about him).

Not sure why he left Wisconsin. Was a strange deal with him leaving Wisconsin and Mike Reilly going to Nebraska. Worked out poorly for everyone.

Except Paul Chryst, there are some that don't like the way his tenure at Pitt ended but it's hard to fault a guy who is literally working the job he wanted his entire career.

So Andersen is out. Jones and Riley are probably done. The guy at Missouri who took over for Darnell.

Whom else?

I would put Rich Rod, Todd Graham, Brett Bielema, The guy from BYU, David Beaty (Kansas) and Jim Mora on the list.

Don't look now, but Rich Rod has Arizona at 5-2, and looking at a bowl game. Plus, query what the buyout is to get rid of him even if they wanted to. I'll bet it's pretty high given his salary.
