Blew through the final three episodes this weekend and found the much higher stakes for Tommy and his family to make for a very compelling, and all too short, season. Lots of great new characters and players for the gang to get along with, along with the re-introduction of some old favorites (I honestly think Tom Hardy's Alfie Solomons is basically him *not acting* - he and Murphy are magic when they're in scenes together though Solomons is best in small doses IMO). What did everyone else think?

Won't deep dive into spoiler territory in this post since many may not have finished the six measly episodes we were granted (thank God we're getting at least two more), but looking forward to hearing what others think. What were your favorite moments/lines? Did the plot work for you? Was the scale too big and confusing a la 'Godfather III' as I've read in some reviews? Any new favorite characters (mine was Russian Anne Hathaway, er um Duchess Tatiana Petrovna (Gaite Jansen)). At a minimum, that ending was an absolute shocker for me.

I'm writing now without having read your post. We've only done episodes 1 - 4. We'll finish up tomorrow. I definitely have to watch 3.3. and 3.4 again too. Those were great episodes. Lots of ambiguity in 3.4.

I avoided any real spoilers in my first post and only mention Alfie's return; it's safe to browse :).

Yes, this show has been great from the start but it's getting even better as it develops

Just talking about the ambiguity with my wife last night. It's a good kind of ambiguity. Several key scenes from episodes 3 and 4 could be interpreted in 2 and sometimes 3 different ways. The characters' motivations could be one of several things that are all believable given that they have built complex characters (for example, Arthur -- I just love what they have done adding facets to the Arthur character this year). So much is said with just a couple of words or a gesture.

This is NO QUESTION the best thing going on TV right now. Terrific plotting and storytelling, it's visually gorgeous. Very violent but the violence is handled intelligently and there's no gratuitous blood-porn or torture like for example Game of Thrones.

I can't stop watching GOT, Martin's world is so interesting. But Peaky Blinders is SO much better written.

And the cast just blows me away week by week. They brought Paddy Considine on this season -- he is one of the best actors in the world, playing a very intriguing and complex priest/villain.

Cillian Murphy is incredible -- absolutely in the same class as James Gandolfini and Bryan Cranston. What a fantastic mob boss character.

BTW I saw Cillian Murphy just agreed to do two more seasons.

Considine was a real treat, as were several of the other 'first time' PB cast-members this year, while the regulars all stepped up their games. Arthur's arc this year was great to watch - you really feel for the guy at times. But, it's Murphy who holds the whole thing together; he's very believable as the Boss of the family. He's not physically imposing like Hardy, but his calm delivery, fearlessness, and especially forethought make him really formidable. Excited we get two more years!

*SPOILERS* follow for those that haven't yet watched the series.

Sorry to ressurect this thread, but I wanted to ask some questions about the ending. It appears that Tommy set everyone up by having them in one place so they could be arrested. Is that everyone else's take?

Tommy mentioned that they would have to testify to bring down the Economic League and then would be let out of prison. I'm assuming this was all arranged with Churchill? I'm guessing Churchill and the govt. doesn't like the EL messing around in international affairs (Russia)?

We all know the Duchess ripped off her parents, but what if the plan to axe Tommy by her parents?

Lastly, I hope the Duchess returns - sans clothing.
