FC/OT: Tom Hardy's 'Taboo' renewed by BBC for Season 2!

Will continue to air on BBC in the UK and FX in the US. Will be cool to see the story pick up (presumably) in North America after James and his crew set sail there in the season one finale. Also happy to see Hardy continue his role in Peaky Blinders (S4 should be out soon!).

Heard the same - that Hardy lost a good bit of money. Surprised it was renewed for a second season. I enjoyed it and will watch season two.

Hm. I hadn't heard that. But, after reading your posts, I read a couple articles and seems like there is some confusion about 'lost money' (number floating around is about $3mm USD). The producers of Taboo say the following:

The Executive Producer of Taboo told express.co.uk: "There has been no £2million lost on the Taboo production.

"The cost of the production has been fully covered. These figures are taken from Interim accounts filed last year and are out of context and therefore misleading.

"Taboo Productions always had sufficient financing secured to complete and deliver the series."

My guess is Hardy invested a good bit of his money and hasn't seen a return yet, but likely will once DVD/Blu Ray sales start and the show goes into syndication. As for ratings, it doesn't do well live, but it's one of the most popular shows on iPlayer, which is the BBC's streaming service.

Anyway, hoping the show picks up some viewers - it's a quality product and always fun to watch Hardy do anything (he's now the 3/1 favorite to be the next Bond).

I liked watching the first season, but it was uncomfortable at times... with the whole incest thing and all. I will certainly look forward to season 2, especially the chemistry between James Delaney and Lorna Bow.
