shouldnt they be required to sign Kap???

The Chiefs aren’t going into the season without a veteran backup quarterback, and they’re not wasting any time acquiring him.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chiefs are signing quarterback Matt Moore.

They needed a replacement for Chad Henne, who suffered a broken ankle and will need surgery.

Moore, 35, last turned up while helping the Dolphins scout quarterbacks this offseason, apparently retired and content to move on. The longtime backup spent seven of his 11 NFL seasons with the Dolphins, also playing for the Panthers and Cowboys.

He’s played in 49 games, with 30 career starts (15-15 record), but hasn’t played since 2017.

I mean, it’s better than the spot the Colts are in after Andrew Luck retired and their ostensible backup is suspended the first two games, but if Moore has to play this season, things have gone very wrong.

Why would they have to sign Kap? You know why they, and every other team in the NFL, will not sign him.

Here is a photo Kaep's girlfriend tweeted out when he was negotiating with the Ravens. Tell me honestly, would you hire a person this unstable in a PR intensive environment? I am very sympathetic to Black Lives Matter and am no friend of the police but c'mon. I wouldn't hire this guy to rake my lawn. I don't need those kinds of hassles if we have a minor disagreement.

Yeah, but is he responsible for everything his girlfriend does? Is he still with her?

does it matter? She is his partner and he didn't disavow it.

Why take that risk for a second string QB?

It does matter IMO - they're not hiring his girlfriend to play for them, they're hiring him. That said, if/when asked, Kap should have said it was her point of view and not his - if he didn't, then of course I don't blame ownership for taking a pass.

And a POS....

Because he takes a position against minorities being targeted by police, just for being minorities? Even the FBI acknowledges that local and state police target minorities unfairly, and an FBI study shows over 20% of local and state law enforcement officers have engaged in white supremacist related acts on a semi-regular or regular basis.

Or do you think he is a POS because the Orange Ayatollah has you (mistakenly) believing that Kapernicks actions were anti-military?

So, one guy takes a knee for a National Anthem - big deal.

Save your anger for all the people in the stands who can't be bothered to take off their hats, put their hands over their hearts, or have the common decency to stand up and shut their mouths and turn away from their cell phones for a minute or two.

I respectfully disagree. Its a PR business and you will put up with a guy who delivered like Zeke or AB. But to put yourself at risk of being called a racist for a second team guy? And I get it was his GF and not him, but he also wore the "pig" socks and made several inflammatory statements. If he wants to say "most cops are really good people but we need to address racism in police activity" I get it...but in no way I'd step into that...none.

Those people are white. He has already saved everything for them.

Why would anyone want an employee who hates the police working for them? Especially a company who needs police to act as security at their games. I am sure someone will chime in that it’s a more nuanced argument and that he was protesting “social injustice”, but if it was ever about that when he put on pig socks any credibility died. Guys like Kapernick stand up and cheer when police are shot in Philadelphia. If I were a police officer I would never provide security for a company who employs him. Why would a company put up with all the controversy he brings in order to employee a below average NFL back up?

That and he has not played in the NFL for several years and his last two years he had a record of something like 4 and 19 as the starting QB. Why take the PR hit for a poor QB who has been out of the league for several years.

Don't forget, or people should not forget that Kap terminated his contract with the 49ers, not the other way around.

Well, two separate issues - if they're offering Kap a contract, they already know about the kneeling, socks, and whatever else he said/did and were willing to deal with it (or make an agreement with him). If the pic the GF posted was what was 'not worth it,' that suggests they weren't very serious about Kap in the first place - IMO.

Such a simpleton viewpoint.
Sorry, he’s a privileged Man who was raised by white parents for a quality education and is protesting against the brutality by police against African American youth who either were attacking the officers in question, not complying with the officers or reaching for there weapons. He’s also fighting against oppression, imagine that a country where he’s so oppressed he got a free education, paid millions to play a sport and the last President of the country was in fact an African American male. Is that a better viewpoint for you??

they dumped him after she tweeted out that photo. To me, that is/was a deal breaker. No owner would sign up for that kind of exposure.

He got his money with the lawsuit and he proved he doesn't want to play IMO. He was offered an opportunity in the AAF and would only play if they paid him $20 million? If he really wanted to play, he would have took peanuts to get back on the field and proved he deserves a second chance. He would never sign with an NFL team to be a backup QB. Denver wanted to bring him in years ago and he said NO. Jacoby Brissett is a better QB than Kap.

Yes, it's a more nuanced issue. Too complicated for you to understand. Best sit this one out.

Agree. The quality of mods has gone downhill with Otter and the Shoe guy.
Why because we have opinions like everyone else? IMHO, Kap is a POS and I stand by my viewpoint. I know Tom will lock this thread but let’s not ignore the fact that the guy is unemployed for a reason and will never play in the NFL again....

Let's take out the entire discussion about "how we feel about Kap".

Why in the world would any team bring him in as a backup when he is on record as saying he will only take starter's money? Why would any team put their starting QB through the constant nosnense of "why isn't Kap playing"? Now obviously that would be a bigger issue in Indy but there's a ton of idiots that will be saying that any time KC losses.

Moore sitting out a season is playing a lot more recently than Kap as well. Moore is the obvious choice between the two.

Kap is more American than you are. At least he cares about the issues. You just don't care because you're racist. Luckily, the old folks with your viewpoint are dying off.

Yeah, I serve on a daily basis keeping people of this country safe but Kap who kneels during the national anthem to stay relevant is definitely more American then I am.

Wait, so he has to be a poor underprivileged black person to protest inequality? That's really dumb.

Why in the world would anyone start a thread about hiring QB's unless it was to bait everyone into a conversation about Kap? Because that's what this was.

Let's be honest about a couple things at this point.
- CK is not that good. He was benched before he decided standing was too hard
- CK is not good enough to outweigh the off-the-field negatives. Brady, Mahomes could take a knee and still be playing. A flash-in-the-pan starter who fell to backup status does not.
- IIRC, he was offered a contract, but turned it down b/c he believed he was worth starter money, despite his results on the field.
- The claim that is was not about the "flag," but about injustice is non-sense. The Nike Betsy Ross show stunt proves that. If the Betsy Ross flag represents slavery as he says, then every flag of every country over 200yo represents slavery, which was a universally accepted practice for thousands of years around the world. Egypt had slaves for 3000 years. What is unique about the US is that slavery existed for only 90 and the framers of the Constitution were setting the stage to get rid of it from Day 1.
- CK would never play again if called. He is now the anti-NFL guy, and is making more from his Nike endorsement being the aggrieved, oppressed "fighter" than he could make carrying a clip board and throwing interceptions, this despite having done ZERO to actually address what he claims to be protesting.

Now let's stop calling each other names. Idaho Idaho Idaho!

you're right so here is the link to the post about chimmy's ....https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/ot-chimneys.244110/, much more relevant on a sports board then talking about football, and players abilities. I never brought race into this, someone else did.

In what way to you keep America safe?

I never said it was about 'race'; I said it was about Kap. You started the thread with this:

Why not say, 'What about Kap?' 'Required' is loaded and was designed to get the board Kap haters into a lather, as opposed to actually talking about whether or not he's good enough (or even a viable candidate) for the job.

oh please, get over yourself. Stick to movie reviews and gowns worn at the Oscars, you are pretty good with that.

Just calling it like I see it - you should be happy, your tactic worked and now everyone is back to pig socks, slave pictures, flags, and kneeling.

Not the entire country, and don’t you worry about it. I should just tell you I’m a border patrol agent so you can complain about how anyone should just be able to enter the country freely and then mooch off our government but I’m guessing you’d go watch CNN to make yourself feel better and think that’s not really what’s happening.
