FC: Programs implicated in FBI college basketball probe (sorry Sparty):

Let's tap the breaks. Some programs are "implicated" because a meal was purchased for a players family member. That's a far cry from accepting 20-70k as some are alleged to have received.

Would have guessed that Syracuse would've been on the list.

Only one agent's loans. There are more agents. Syracuse doesn't do business with lightweights like this one. These gifts are nothing. It looks the agent may have had one real potential client - Smith from NC State. Nearly all the players received loans from this single A level agent after their seasons - hardly unusual. It's part of an agent's come on prior to a draft. Except this rube was paying out 1k, 2k ($463 to one kid wth?). Low level story and hardly worthy of the headlines. Is it wrong? Of course but this is jaywalking compared to what is out there.

Just the end of another long day for this federal investigator looking into sordid world of college basketball.

How much do we have to hear about MSU before Delany gets involved? Is it possible to redistribute some MSU B1G money to other member institutions? Delany? Delany?

I agree...some of this looks like a whole lot of nothing. But it seems that every time there’s some kind of sleazy crap going on, Izzo’s name comes up. Might be time for MSU to step up and do something.

Didn't they give him a contract extension recently?

Come on, Chi....that Jim Weber tweet esp. is sensationalistic and over the top; that's just too broad of a look at this scandal

Some programs and players do indeed have allegations of $20,000 to $70,000 going to recruits; in other cases, Duke and UNC for example, the allegations are that a family member of a recruit met with a pro agent and had a $100 meal paid for. Big difference.

Let's be fair and see what comes out before lumping all these programs together.

Watch the “Joe Paterno effect” come into play with Duke. People so badly want to tear Duke down that any little bit of negative will be blown out of proportion to show that Coach K can’t be that clean. We saw it first hand and now Duke fans will see it.

Now this looks serious.

FBI wiretaps show Sean Miller discussed $100K payment to lock recruit

FBI wiretaps intercepted telephone conversations between Arizona coach Sean Miller and Christian Dawkins, a key figure in the FBI's investigation into college basketball corruption, in which Miller discussed paying $100,000 to ensure star freshman Deandre Ayton signed with the Wildcats, sources familiar with the government's evidence told ESPN.

According to people with knowledge of the FBI investigation, Miller and Dawkins, a runner working for ASM Sports agent Andy Miller, had multiple conversations about Ayton. When Dawkins asked Miller if he should work with assistant coach Emanuel "Book" Richardson to finalize their agreement, Miller told Dawkins he should deal directly with him when it came to money, the sources said.

Yeah, that'll leave a mark.

I also know for a fact that Chicago prep guard [name redacted] took money to sign with Arizona about a decade back.
