The best episode of The Love Boat ever was the one where Jim Nabors played a jewel thief.

He was a massive bore that constantly talked about what he was going to have for dinner and how he always changed his mind about having the liver and onions and as a result none of the other passengers could stand him.

Then the other passengers heard rumors he was a jewel thief and they found it glamorous and started hanging around him all the time even though he still was always talking about how he changed his mind and didn't have the liver and onions for dinner.

Then shortly before the end of the cruise the other passengers heard he wasn't a jewel thief after all and started shunning him again.

Then at the very end when they went into their cabins to pack and leave all their jewelry was gone and the Jim Nabors character had left a note telling them how he finally had the liver and onions for dinner.

Really one of the all time greats, IMHO> Not just "Gomer Pile" but earlier, playing Gomer in the Andy Griffith series (opposite Andy and, probably the best TV character of all time, Barney Fife).

Dude had a hell of a singing voice too.

Barney Frank? You mean Barney Fife?

Seriously, your annual review is going to be a mess. o_O

Nice save on the edit- but it's still documented on your review form.

Used to spend my mornings before school (and during, if I could convince my mom I was too sick to go :) watching TBS and they always had Gomer Pyle, Three Stooges, Little Rascals, and Looney Toons on and those were just the best.

well, you have to admit that there are/were similarities.

I am a little ahead of you.

I'd get home from school with a steady diet of:
  • Star Trek
  • Gilligan's Island
  • Gomer Pile
  • Sugarfoot
  • Cheyanne
  • Rifleman
  • Green Acres
I didn't get into Andy Griffith/Mayberry until later. When I was in my 30's my kids started to watch it. The story lines are crisp and timeless. I've always wondered, with the movie remakes so popular, why they don't brush off those scrips and remake them.

Yep, saw this. Even tho this TV series was WAY before my time, my mind instantly shot back to Sarge. Rip man.
And the epic battles between Sgt. Carter and the poster who purposely adopted the name Gomer Pyle to antagonize him. It would usually end with Sgt Carter calling him a twerp and threatening to beat him up.

And in Black and White too.

Barney Frank, Barney Fife, barry fenchak. Same thing.

Sang at Indy 43 times I believe. Loved Andy Griffith and Gomer in my youth, and still would watch today.

RIP, Mr. Nabors.
I thought of that Indy 500 stint just ending not long ago. I think he was made an honorary Hoosier.
